I would not recommend working with Ryan. I had a horrible experience which may have cost me thousands of dollars. Upon receiving Ryans name from a colleague, I retained Ryan to appeal my property tax assessment in McHenry County (McHenry Township), which had increased by 78%!!!! Ryan said he would be happy to help me and sent a retainer agreement which I signed. He also sent a welcome email which stated, Once you complete the digital signature process and I have the signed documents I will take care of everything. I will review the available evidence, prepare and submit the appeal, and continue this process at every level possible. Im a Realtor so upon retaining Ryan, I sent him some comparable property sales which I thought might be helpful in the appeal. He said he would definitely take a look at them when preparing the appeal. I did not hear anything from him after that but assumed he had filed the appeal. My trust in him was completely misplaced. When I contacted him shortly after the deadline, he said that he had decided that I did not have grounds for an appeal and that he had decided not to file the appeal. He did this without consulting me in any way and without any notification prior to the deadline. Had I known that he was not filing the appeal, I would have filed on my own. Now, I am stuck with the assessors value and my taxes will definitely increase over the next several years.

Highly reccomend Ryan Schaefges. He walked me through everything I needed to know to understand the appeals process, got my tax bill to the lowest it's been in years, and kept me updated throughout the entire experience.
