The Patch Boys of Dupage County

This is a follow up on my prior review. We are thoroughly impressed with the work they have done, though it did take longer than we would have hoped. The second guy who came out was very professional and fixed everything that was not done the first time, and then some. That being said, we are still disappointed about the flooring being damaged. It will be covered with a rug, but flooring should not be damaged by drywallers in the first place.

I had the Patch Boys repair the plaster ceiling in my living room, that was damaged by a fallen tree branch. I could not be happier with the experience and the finished product. Everyone I dealt with was professional, responsive and on-time, and the quality of work is excellent. They did a great job blending into the rest of the ceiling as well. You can’t even tell there was a hole. Highly recommend.

We had the Patch Boys come tear out a plaster ceiling in our new home’s bedroom and install drywall. The job took several days, which was expected, but we were very disappointed with the quality of the job. You can still see tape seams, there are bumps, ridges, and bubbles in the compound and paint primer. We know plaster tear down is messy, but it is apparent that they did not put down a drop cloth during the work; there are permanent scratches and dings on our hardwood floor that were not there before the job. In addition, we paid an extra several hundred dollars for easy removal; they did take the bulk of the waste, but on the last day left our trash can stuffed to the point we could not get our own waste in it. For the extra charge we agreed to for waste removal, we were not expecting our trash bin to be used. We emailed and called the project manager several times but never got through to him. To our pleasant surprise, the owner of the company called and came to the house to inspect the drywall and mudding job. He was very kind and confirmed the job was not up to par. He scheduled a time the next week for someone to come back and fix the drywall job. We called to confirm the day before this work was supposed to happen, and for some reason the scheduling did not go through. Things happen; no worries. So we schedule another time another week and a half out for another guy to come fix the walls. As we can’t speak to how the repair went yet (it is next week), we are still fairly disappointed. We are now nearly a month down since the project began and it is still not done. We appreciate them willing to come back and fix the work, but we do wish the entire project timeline would be much shorter. This room is the last room in our new home we need to fix before we can fully move in, and we are frustrated that it is taking this long. We are hesitant to post a review before all the work is complete, but in this case we feel it is warranted. Once the work is fully complete, we truly hope we can omit this review and subsequently post another excellent 5 star review.

Over the years we had suffered numerous problems with the drywall in our main bath - a couple of holes (one sizeable), a badly done seam, rusty nails popping above shower. Kamal came and repaired everything. We are delighted with the results and would use the Patch Boys again if we ever needed more repairs.
