        Ive been a customer for a while with Oakwood electric. About a month ago I called for generator service and when the technician came he did the service and told me that one sensor was bad and he changed it. I paid the invoice that was totaled by the technician without any issues. About a week later I noticed that the red light was still on so I called and Trish said she will send the technician. When I asked I hope I dont need to pay for this she replied it depends on what hes going to find . The technician came and tested the generator and decided that the oil pump is bad and either the engine or the whole generator needs to be changed. And he left an invoice with 0 dollars. Then I received an email from them thats it will cost about $4500 to replace the engine and about $7500 to replace the generator. Few days later I received an invoice in the mail for &170 for the visit that the technician had done to determine the oil leak. When asked about that Trish replied that the technician made a mistake and he should not write 0 dollars in the invoice and its up to them to decide on the fees for the service and they expect the payment in full. And I did end up paying them the $170. I had the generator oil pump replaced by another electrician for $1350. They would have charged 3k more for the same service. I will definitely no longer stay with them.

      Reviews can be helpful to customers looking to find a business to work with. Unfortunately, reviews can also be used by unhappy customers in an unkind way. Negative reviews impact the good reputation we work so hard as a company to build and maintain. We charge our customers to troubleshoot and diagnose generator issues as there is a cost associated with doing that. That conversation occurs when appointments are booked so everyone is on the same page. We have to pay our employees to conduct that work. They are using their vast knowledge, training (which we pay for), skills and tools to determine what is causing the generator to fail. Our technicians then share their findings with the customer and our office team provides the customer an estimate to repair (and in some cases, replace) the unit. In this instance, the technician determined that the oil pump needed to be replaced. For this repair, the tech would have had to remove the entire engine, rotor and stator and take the engine apart as the broken part is internal in the engine. In our experience, with a generator of this age (13 years old), it makes more sense to either replace the engine or replace the unit with a brand new Generator with a new warranty and wifi mobile link. When breaking down the engine you run the risk of breaking other components of the engine. As a business we choose what options/solutions we present to our customers. It is unfortunate that this customer submitted this review because he was unhappy with the options we presented to him.
