I adopted my cockatiels from GCCBS and board them there often. The avian vet visits regularly and identified a problem with the female. They contacted me immediately and began medication that I approved. She looked better than ever upon my return. These are dedicated volunteers who really care.

I dropped off newspapers to use for the birds at this wonderful rescue! Beautiful birds of all kinds, well cared for and loved by volunteers. If you are searching for a bird, call and set up a visit, or if you have time to give, call to volunteer. And if you are looking for an animal rescue to support, they are always in need. A wonderful place!

Im sure everyone works really hard to take care of all the birds and they make lots of effort to keep things going but Ive been very disappointed with how adoptions have been handled. On 11/11/2023 we put an application and send a video (tour of our home) as requested in application in efforts to adopt a parakeet. Keep in mind that completing application , scanning document and converting it to requested format as well as taking time to record home video, making sure all the bullet points requested by rescue to be in a video takes time and effort ( we did it because we carried and wanted to take in a bird to give it a home). After few weeks I did reach out via Facebook to follow up in regards to our application but so far no one responded or even acknowledged our request. Its been almost 2 months and nothing, no word at all. If they would just acknowledged our interest or say we have to wait longer etc. I would totally understand and do so. Its kind of sad that with rescue being at full capacity it seems like not a lot of effort is made to get birds adopted. Since I didnt receive any response from this rescue I moved on and was able to adopt parakeet from another rescue/ shelter. Thank you for all that you do but please review your adoption process. Thank goodness for them. I still wouldnt be sleeping at night if I couldnt have taken this tiny Tennessee Warbler to them on a Saturday afternoon. Thank you. Thank you!

Absolutely positive experience. Looking for a Cockatoo fell in love with a couple, 1 already had an application on her and the other wasn't super friendly but both really beautiful. There was a nice selection and could have chosen another species but just going to wait until the right one comes into the facility. This is a really great group of people who work and or volunteer here. They were very patient and knowledgeable. We thought about purchasing from a pet store or breeder but Leslie explained the benefits of bird adoption and it made good sense. Birds can live a loooonnnngggg life our bird was 29 when he died 2 years ago. So we're going to be patient in the hopes on our next visit we'll find our new family member.
