I was coming to the Streator office under Dr. Chirban since 1997. I stayed with the same location after Dr. Chirban passed away in 2008 and was bought out by Dr. John Conness. We've had regular dental care at this office for all these years from 1997 to 2017. I've had 2 prior upper jaw surgeries, left jaw joint surgery, and several sinus surgeries which is in my patient record. I had an apico here in 2013 with a direct communication from my tooth to my sinus after I had an infection abscess through my gum. I should have been referred to an oral surgeon with my history. I had the apico tooth pulled by another dentist and I was wondering if mercury was used on this apico. After the tooth was pulled I had mercury tattoos in my gums. When I asked questions I never was given direct answers such as what was used in the apico. I was told it was tried and true. I started having pain down my right front tooth in 2017. I was told nothing was wrong. I went to an endo and had a root canal as tooth #11 was severely infected. I started having jaw pain and sinusitis. Dr. Conness told me I wasn't in any pain as he could tell from the look on my face. It was recommended to me that he could root canal all my teeth by his current office manager. It was recommended from the dental hygienist that I find a different dentist in my area even though we drove over an hour each way all these years. When I was talking to the hygienist she said she couldn't understand me and I was mumbling. That is not a way you talk to your patients. I asked for a referral to Mayo Clinic as that was the best option and it needed to be done by my dentist. I was never given that. This is not how patients deserve to be treated. We deserve to be treated like our health matters. I did not want mercury in my mouth as I had the mercury fillings removed. Dental health is very important to physical health and when you can't figure out problems you need to refer patients out to someone with more expertise of the problem. Patients are the reason you have your business.
