We first hired Jameson Pavement Surfaces, Inc. to remove and replace a concrete walkway in Spring of 2022. The job was completed in a timely manner at a decent price. Communication with Jameson was good and the quality of the job was excellent. This led to Jameson being selected for a much larger project that had been planned for years. Later that same year we hired them to tear out our existing asphalt driveway, widen the area of the driveway 2-3ft, add an additional parking space next to the garage, add a storage pad along the garage, and replace with concrete. The entire job was estimated at approximately $30,000. Since the driveway needed to be widened there was a large quantity of fill that would be needed. This fill was purchased through Jameson and installed by them as well. Each day Jameson's workers were here we made sure to have a cooler full of soda and water outside for them and told them to help themselves. Most days I would pick up a bag of breakfast sandwiches for them in the morning or grab pizza for them for lunch. The crew was very polite and appreciative. On the day of the concrete pour Jameson, the owner, was stressed about the staggering of each concrete truck that was coming. There was a delay issue that created a "cold joint" that you can see in the finished surface of one of the areas. Besides that there are a few grading issues and a "bird bath" that forms in a low spot any time we get rain. He also stated that he did not want to have the concrete finishers do the "California finish" or "picture framing" to each section like we had discussed. Perhaps because its more time and labor intensive. There was also an issue that day with his workers going into my garage that day and helping themselves to a pack of work gloves I had. A few pairs were missing and one pair was left in the yard where they had been working. I brought it to Jameson's attention. There were a few small issues with the driveway that we brought to Jameson's attention during the final review of the work. Jameson stated "that's why you have a one year guarantee"! He assured me that if the issues got any worse or new ones developed then it would be covered by the one year guarantee. A few months later a crack started to develop where the driveway passes by the house. This crack is over 40 ft. long and runs down the center of the driveway perpendicular to the control joints. This was in the middle of winter so I waited for spring to contact Jameson to see if it got any worse. I was able to mention the issues over the phone and sent pictures to his wife Tammy. She informed me that she would have Jameson contact me. That never happened. I called once a week and left messages that never got a call back. Eventually I called from a different number and my call was taken immediately by the secretary. When I asked to speak to Jameson or Tammy I was put on hold and then told by the secretary that they were busy after I gave my name. With the end of the 1 year guarantee approaching I had a law office write two letters to them. I never received any reply. During this process I had another local concrete contactor come out and give me an estimate to repair the area. He stated that the damage likely had two causes. According to him Jameson's compacted the fill incorrectly where the driveway was widened. The other cause was that Jameson's used rebar into the foundation to anchor the driveway. This was the wrong thing to do since the house has settled already (built in 1958) and the driveway will want to move with the changing in weather. When I reviewed my contract the rebar portion is not checked off. However, they did check off 10G wire mesh and this was never installed. Fiber mesh was used in the concrete which was noted in the contract. Based on this rebar should not have been used to anchor to the house. The wire and fiber mesh should have been used per the contract. According to the other concrete contractor the repair to the section would be $8-10K. But he stated to wait 3-5 years to allow for the fill to compact naturally since it was done improperly. I have waited for quite some time for Jameson to make this right. I upheld my end of the contract, went above and beyond with his workers, and paid him the agreed upon amount promptly. So for those needing any concrete, paving, or sealcoating work done please allow my loss to become your gain. Use this information to help make your decision. Please select a company with more integrity, professionalism, skill, and better customer service than I did.
