Horrendous treatment. On January 25th I brought my 3 and 1/2-year-old cat Mazzy and her stool sample to Animal Hospital Of Spring Grove. I explained to Dr. Latif that Mazzy has been losing weight and has diarrhea. He informed me that they were going to draw blood to send off too the lab. I proceeded to watch Dr. Latif attempt to get blood from my cat. He informed me that he's really not good at that but his partner is better but he's not here. He wasn't able to get the blood. At that moment. I said to myself I should leave and go to my other vet that I used to go to in Richmond? He informed me that they'll send the stool sample off and we'll have the results tomorrow. In the meantime, he prescribed Metronidazole and Feline Advita Probiotics for 10 days. On January 26th I'm contacted by Animal Hospital Of Spring Grove and informed Mazzy has Giardia and that I should continue to treat Mazzy with the medication he prescribed for 10 days. I asked if I should bring my other cat Roky's stool in as well because this is highly contagious? They said yes. January 27th Roky tests positive for Giardia and I'm instructed to treat him with the same meds. February 3rd I spoke with Dr. Latif and explained that Mazzy is still having diarrhea issues. He prescribes another round of Metronidazole for them. On February 17th we're still having issues. Dr. Latif prescribes Panacur Powder and Hills a/d food for Mazzy for 5 day's. Around this time I was noticing Mazzy's eyes and it seems like she was having issues on focusing and I was thinking her depth perception was off? I was thinking it was due to the heavy medications? I brought it to Dr. Latif attention. His answer was maybe she hit her head? I don't think so. The next day I spoke to Dr. Latif and he said it could be because she is dehydrated from the diarrhea? Even though my cat drinks water and eats wet food regularly. I bought that. Maybe it was because the diarrhea? He never once asked me to bring Mazzy in to look at her eyes! On February 22nd Dr. Latif prescribed Azithromycin, Endosorb, and Vetasyl for 5 days. February 27th Mazzy is prescribed Sucralfate for 5 day's and Hills w/d cat food to help with her diarrhea. Also I brought in another stool sample. February 28th Spring Grove Veterinary call's me to tell me that Mazzy tested negative for Giardia. I said that's wonderful! But Mazzy's eye's don't seem normal still? They said continue to monitor it. It could just be the meds? On March 8th I took Mazzy to Richmond Veterinary and met with Dr. F. He was immediately concerned with Mazzy's eyes! I explained the treatment I was receiving for Mazzy and gave him copies of all the invoices from the previous veterinarian. After Dr. F's examination he believes Mazzy is now blind. He's not 100% sure because he's not an opthalmologist. Dr. F noticed inflamed retina and inflammation to retinal vasculature with hyperactive spots present. He recommended running blood tests and infectious disease as well as checking IOPs and BP. Plan was authorized. He believes it could possibly be caused by Toxoplasmosis? Won't know until the blood work comes back which should be on March 13th. Dr. F prescribed Clindamycin. On March 13th Mazzy's results came back negative for Toxoplasmosis. She currently has an appointment with an Animal Optometrist in Wheeling on March 30th. So that's where I'm at with Mazzy. I feel horrible and heart broken for Mazzy. I feel like Dr. Latif never addressed Mazzy's issues and infact maybe worsened them and may have poisoned my cat with these meds? I'm extremely angry. They know I took her to another Vet because I requested all her records to be sent there. And I have yet to get a callback about Mazzy's blindness when I left a message with them on March 14th! I feel like I was pushed meds and cat food with no treatment. Speaking of cat food they still haven't paid me back for the two cans I returned nor have they returned my phone calls about Mazzy being blind.
