This is a place where the the 2 top administrators have have given 5 star reviews.. I wonder how many other people they enlisted they enlisted to give phony 5 star reviews. Technically this place is more for psychiatric success indigent patients.. It is filthy the food is disgusting And you're lucky if your loved one gets the proper care that they need. As I said considering the amount of indigent people there who are not Living there I would be concerned for my loved one's safety.. Give the police a call and see how often they have to respond the respond to the facility for problematic patients.at this point if you don't have concern you should put someone you don't care for there and they will rot away.

My friend has been at the Citadel for several months. He reports to me nearly every day about how wonderful the staff are and I had an opportunity to reach out to administration recently and they were wonderful to work with. They were prompt in answering my questions, very professional and more than accommodating.

Citadel of Skokie is a poorly run organization with low ethics and an incapability of performing basic health measures needed to keep their residents safe. This is evident based on the screaming and shouting from other residents that is rarely addressed by the staff. The organizations culture is poor, and the staff truly could care less about the health and safety of those staying there. For instance, the staff did not wear masks, which does not adhere to basic COVID procedures. The Illinois Department of Health and Aging needs to be aware of how poorly this organization is run and I feel that it is one of the worst organizations operated in the state. As a 23-year-old in a very challenging and tough position of caring for my father, the staffs lack of care and concern for their residents put my life in an even worse position as I watched my fathers condition progress and rapidly decline. The staff was extremely incompetent with their communication efforts. Even though I was able to speak with Adam, the Assistant Director of Citadel of Skokie, he always rushed me off the phone, which I felt was very disrespectful. Then, the administrator Ben Cramer wouldnt reach out or make an effort to get into contact with me. During the two weeks when the organization was in crisis mode, the administrator Ben Cramer was out of the office. The staff always told me that if I had an issue I should take it up with an administrator. When I asked who that would be when Ben Cramer was unable to be contacted, I was only informed by the staff that the administrator was out and was given no further information pertaining to who I should contact to express my concerns to. The staff put very little effort into assisting my father with very basic tasks. For example, my father never received warm food. The staff would leave out his meal without a lid on it, and some days did not feed him at all, which led to him losing over 15 pounds. It was like pulling teeth to get any answers from the staff. Whenever I asked for anything from the staff to help my dad or a simple question about his weight and his health, they got defensive and acted as if it wasnt in my right to know these important metrics about my fathers health. The organization put my dad in physical danger countless times. For instance, the bed that was provided by the organization for my father apparently fell apart, and due to this my father fell out of the bed and hit his head on the floor which prompted an ER visit. Another instance was when the staff wasnt capable of inserting my fathers catheter. None of the staff were able to take my father out of his room for a walk, and my father was kept in bed until it was time for his physical therapy. My father was forced to lay in bed even when he wasnt bedridden at the time. It seemed that the staff refused to take my father for walks because it was easier for them not to, which greatly upset me. Overall, I was very displeased with the way this organization was run. The way my father was treated is unacceptable, and the staffs behavior showed that they care very little for the health and safety of the residents.

My older brother William moved to Citadel about 3 years ago. During his stay, which coincided with the COVID outbreak, Bill was treated with dignity and respect and he seemed genuinely happy. The staff was polite and very attentive to his needs, and they always notified the family of any developments regarding Bill's health care and COVID developments within the facility. We felt like part of the health care team and we appreciated their transparency. It gave our family great comfort knowing that Bill was in such good hands.

I cant believe these reviews. Fake reviews. My brother was here from February 1st - April 5th of this year. The place is disgusting. It is dirty and very poorly maintained. The very first weekend he was there I had to call SEVERAL times for him to get attention. I had to contact the DON on multiple occasions due to the horrible circumstances my brother was experiencing. They lied to us and said he would have a bath twice a week. They didnt have enough staff to care for the residents. My brother tried to tough it out because he was trying to recover. This place delayed his recovery. Adam G. (a Citadel Employee who has a review here) contacted me recently to ask me how my brother was doing. I informed him that he is now receiving more rehabilitation therapy at home than he did at Citadel. I let him know my feelings about Citadel. I think its a HORRIBLE facility and I would NEVER recommend it. The first floor has been remodeled. Visit the second floor. The rooms are dirty and neglected. There are stains on the floor. The smell is awful. Visit the basement visiting area. Dirty. Smelly. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
