Did not have a good experience at petco river forest, IL location. The store manager, Nicole, is ridiculous and the worst manager l ever worked for. I remember taking a bathroom break and she counted that as my 10 min break and took my break away from me. She punishes you for using the restroom and will count it as your break. You are only allowed to use the restroom before or after your shift. If you use the restroom during it gets counted as your 10 minute break because they "don't have the funds" to let you be away from the floor for 5-10mins to let you use the restroom. This manager put me on schedule working 9 days straight and would not let me have a normal break because I used the bathroom for a few minutes. I was quite literally losing my mind from how tired I was from working so many days in a row, after being told that I had my break was taken away from me for using the restroom, I wanted to cry. No manager has ever made me cry before. This lady was draining me out. If it wasn't one thing, it was another, she is never happy with anything. There were also a few times where I would say hi to her and she would completely ignore me. If you are a sales associate you have to practically be glued to the cash register because they're so low staff. You cannot move around to help other customers in the store either. Then customers will complain because no one is helping them. I remember a time that I had asked for help in the intercom for assistance since I was the only one on the floor and there were 3 managers on shift that day, no one came out to help me at all for a good 10-15 minutes while I had a line at the register. I had to physically walk to the back myself and saw that they were too busy chatting in the back about none work related things. But yet you get in trouble for leaving the register alone. I also remember a few older employees would shop at this location and tell me how draining it was and that they had to leave after a few months because it was "too much". Other employees that have been there longer than me would tell me how she will write you up for quite literally anything and everything, even the smallest things. Save yourself the time. I was only able to last here for 3 weeks only because of how ridiculous the store manager is. Do NOT work here.
