Where to start! I took my Prius into the Toyota dealer because it was making a noise I thought could be engine related. The problem was a wheel hub. The part had to be ordered, would be in the next day. Got a phone call the next day saying the noise was gone, but the code was still there. I questioned what code that was because there was no code when I brought my car in. Then he back peddled and said well old parts can corrode and a sensor was giving a code. The cost to replace would be $365. This on top of the $1200 for the hub replacement. I told Larry they were robbing me and he agreed. The part in question is a $41 part (from Parts Geek) and maybe 15 minutes of labor. Easy snap-on one end and one bolt on the other end. So I said I would take the car without the ABS sensor. then he talked to the manager and they replaced the ABS at no cost. I was pretty unhappy that they wanted me to pay for a part that they broke. Turned out what they diagnosed as the problem was not the hub at all. Overcharged and not the issue.
