If I could give Dominic a negative star I would.  I'm writing this review 6 years later because I stumbled upon the "plans" Dominic put together for our remodel in late 2012 and it was so unbelievable terrible that I brought it home to my husband.  We had a nice "remember when that POS almost lost us our house" conversation and he pointed out that there was a Yelp review I could add to!Just to summarize some of the low points on our dealing with Dominic...had to run without finishing our initial meeting because he was parked illegally and parking enforcement came by.  He gave us his card and offered his contracting services even though he's be signing off on work...talk about a conflict of interest.  We let him know that we already had a contractor picked out and then he told us that there was no way we'd get the work done for the quoted price (we did, and our house is beautiful), and then he became hostile and wouldn't get back to us.  The communication was so lacking that we almost lost our house because it was taking too long for the loan to be approved.  Luckily our realtor talked the seller into waiting.  The final straw was when Dominic told us that we needed a new roof (never part of the plans) and unless that was done he wouldn't move forward.  I'd like to point out that this was six years ago...thinking we had a roof close to it's end of life we had a roofer come out last year and he said "there's nothing wrong with this roof, you have at least five more years" - so a total of ten more years.  We were so frustrated that we were going to walk away from our house but our mortgage broker fixed it.  As soon as Dominic got his initial payment for putting together some crappy drawings and entering some information into a form we promptly fired him.His replacement was exactly what Dominic was supposed to be - a mediator to make sure everyone was being honest and work was getting done properly.  Contractor kept to his work and the work looked good, we were happy with our contractor, and the mortgage lender could be assured that the loan was being used as intended.  I couldn't believe how smooth the process was once Dominic was out of the picture, our new guy even told us he was familiar with Dominic because he had finished more than one job Cornerstone was fired off of.

Avoid this company with all of the effort you can muster. The only reason I'm giving them one star is because Google makes me give them something. Dominic tried charging me over $20k to do work that every other contractor was offering between $9-13k for. He ended up being my consultant/inspector instead of my contractor. My GC made several mistakes during the construction, which were found by a friend of my family and I while checking up on the house. Some examples include my countertop being overcut for the sink, bad wiring on the furnace (and errors with the gas hookup), which should have been a red flag for any inspector. Dominic took no notice to ALL of these problems (and many more). When I asked if everything was okay (knowing it wasn't), he told me that everything checked out alright. When I brought up everything he had missed and asked for a refund (or a reinspection), he informed me that there "would be no refund of fees of any type", and that he "couldn't wait to rid [himself] of the project". Pass on this one. This guy will take a tour of your house, leave it in shambles, and claim to not have any idea what happened when your house burns down. Avoid.

This review is very old, but like the other reviewer, I feel necessary given the lack of information available online. I tried to purchase a home that required a 203 (K) loan as it was an unfinished gut rehab. We contacted Mr Valenti to perform 2 things, 1 assist in securing the loan & 2 act as general contractor on the project. On the initial free consultation at the property I told Mr Valenti I would only be able to move forward if he could complete the work for 200-225k. Mr Valenti agreed given his vast experience & claimed he knew contractors that could do the work + secure materials within our budget. To move forward we had to pay him several thousands of dollars as a retainer for him to actually secure bids. Once he had our money he gave us a proposal for 450k to do the work and said there's no way it could be done for less. Despite his claim of construction experience he had no legitimate reason why his initial estimate had been 100% off and refused to give us any of our money back. This guy is a liar & a crook.
