Kelsey did a great job with my hair highlights. She was really patient and took her time to listen to her customer's requests. She was not only eager to learn her craft, but also satisfied her customer. Very well educated teachers training their students. Great environment, great place! Would definitely recommend! FYI: keep your schedule pretty much open for your hair day as getting your hair done could be a lengthy process.

I received services when this establishment was named the 'Niles School of Cosmetology' and was always very happy with the service and the staff. Unfortunately, my experience with the new owners 'John Amico School of Hair Design' in Niles was very bad. I have ichthyosis vulgaris which is a dry, flaky skin condition like bad dandruff. The salon refused services after performing a 'scalp evaluation' and told me that they cannot provide service (for the safely of their staff) unless I have a doctor's note. I've heard of a 'scalp analysis' by a dermatologist, but not by a hairdresser. This is NOT a standard practice at hair salons. The refusal to cut my hair may have been a blessing in disguise though, as the student had no confidence and I believe I was saved from a really bad haircut. For anyone with a similar skin condition and already self-conscious, save yourself the humiliation and don't come to this place. They will make you feel like you have some nasty, contagious disease.
