Hello Joe., there was no fire at VAI’s. We actually have a completely new exhaust system and heating and air-conditioning units in the restaurant. Every once in a while, you will get a beautiful aroma of the wood-burning grill and woodburning oven that we use in a lot of our cooking. Hello Derek, From the entire team at VAI's we apologize for the Facebook post. Without a doubt, the Facebook post was very distasteful, and In poor judgment, it was meant to be lighthearted. Our marketing group feels very bad about this. We all do. We take nutritional preferences and allergies very seriously. We are all trained on them and we have very specific procedures on how we handle the food, we are not a flour free Kitchen but do have safeguards in place as we always want to do all we can to prevent cross contamination. Fortunately, we have had NO INCIDENTS related to Gluten and cross contamination. But again, we do have very high standards in place for handling food.We will be putting out another statement coming from myself and my partners. Without a doubt, this was a mistake all of us feel all our efforts against this fight are now not trusted and that’s going to be something we need to earn back. The person that wrote that piece, I must say is one of the most kind and sincere, polite people you would ever meet. He’s an absolute gentleman that has a lighthearted sense of humor, and this certainly left a blemish, and he feels it. We do have a great team and I continue to support them. Hard lesson learned for us and we certainly will continue our standards of handling all allergens and nutritional preferences as we have over all the years. We realize it should not have been posted originally. It is our hope to regain everyone’s trust. Again, our sincerest apologies. There was no bad intent, or disrespect to anyone that has a gluten allergy or celiac disease. We do understand the anger and anxiety it has caused. We cannot change that, but we are sincere, and it was a mistake with no bad intent.
