Denise was great to work with on this project. Our yard is quite large and has some challenges. She designed a space that is interesting to look at, addressed the challenges of our yard with native plants and the design of the space. The first day of the project, she was here with the landscaper measuring beds. She was here the last two days, helping to finish planting and answering any questions I had. I prefer supporting women owned businesses and was thrilled to find Good Natured Landscaping. Denise really did take the time to listen to what I wanted to see in our yard. When reviewing the plans, she went through her thought process for the design and plant choices and placement. She exceeded my expectations and I cannot recommend her enough.

I was searching for a designer for a rain garden; an environmentally-friendly solution to drainage in our backyard. I initially contacted Good-Natured Landscapes in the spring and we had our initial meeting. I had to wait "in line" for my design, since Denise gives full attention to each client but the process began with our first meeting since I needed to observe the light and other features of my backyard that would aid in the design. The design, location and initial excavation was done last fall. Over the winter we were able to observe how the water from our sump and downspouts were well directed able to be absorbed on our property. Over the fall and winter we watched the water being contained and absorbed as planned, even without the plants! We are looking forward to the completion of the project with the planting part of the design this spring.

Denise at Good-Natured Landscapes expertly bridged a significant gap between our just an idea and the fully implemented native plantings garden we now have. She took 700 square foot of neglected parkway and designed an attractive plot that fits nicely with the rest of our front yard and the wooded neighborhood, all the while using her experience to select a variety of attractive native plants suitable for the available growing conditions. As a causal gardener with little native plant knowledge, I particularly appreciated the occasional insight and encouragement Denise provided as I tackled the garden installation. I have received only positive comments on the new garden, and many neighbors are as eager as we are to watch it mature over time. Denise drew up beautiful landscape plans for us for a native plant rain garden, pollinator garden and also helped us fit in some native plants in our front landscape without redoing the whole thing. Then she came to help lay out the plants. We are watching the plants grow and start to bloom now which is exciting She is working to help the pollinators and the environment through her landscaping design business. But she also talks the talk and walks the walk. She is an environmentalist through and through. Denise is a very kind hearted person with integrity. Next time we need help with landscape design I will be calling on Denise!

After years of neglect, our yard was in need of a makeover. We wanted a landscape designer that was had a deep knowledge of incorporating native plants into a design to encourage local biodiversity and support wildlife. We also wanted to work with someone who would take into account how we use the yard. Finally, being DIYers, we wanted someone who could provide us with a blueprint to move forward without being tied to a particular schedule and contract for installation. We found Denise to be an excellent fit for us. The design she delivered is both functional (incorporating our outdoor living), fun (features for the kids), and supportive of native species (plant, animal, and insect). The final plan was detailed and comprehensive, providing a list of plants, shrubs, trees, and hardscape materials as well as recommending garden centers to purchase native plants and recommendations for care of a new landscape. She also offers recommendations for labor contractors and follow-up support in implementing the design if desired. Highly recommended!
