I went to the Mac Store. They couldn't help me fix my 2015 MacBook Pro and wanted me to buy a new one. I figured my MacBook Pro could be fixed. I was right! I went to Experimac in Naperville. They fixed my computer and it was ready the next day! the $160 fix was much cheaper than spending $2500 on a new MacBook Pro!! My older computer runs like new. In fact, I am using it now!! A visit to this location was completed 1-16-2023 with an overall poor experience. Synopsis:A lot of people have wrote reviews for this location for technical services performed on their machine. This review is for an attempt at evaluating a 2017 iMac computer for being sold and /or traded in. I visited this location to evaluate the value of a top of the line 2017 27" Retina Display iMac All In One Workstation in Like New Condition (Valued $2799.99 new). Additionally I provided the original box and packing materials for this device so it was mostly complete in box.Summary:While the initial interaction with the serviceman was well received, shortly after booting up and evaluating my machine, I spotted an identical 2017 27" Retina Display iMac for sale at their location was selling for $1,700.00. Additionally, on their wall, their company's plaque states "iMac's are built to last and hold the majority of their value even after 5+ years".Upon completing the review of my machine, the serviceman came back to me with a truly abysmal estimate and stated that they can give me "$175.00 because that's what Apple states its worth. It could be that these machines just aren't worth what they used to, or that Apple is phasing out the operating system".It is important to note, this location is NOT an "Apple Store", it's an Apple reseller and service team that focuses on Apple Products. After I asked about how are they selling the same item I brought in for the $1700.00 price tag, everything I heard from the serviceman reminded me of a snakeoil salesman. None of it was based on fact and he stumbled between sentences when questioned. The salesman's answers and supporting evidence were flat out lies and I was shocked that the salesman doubled down on such poor arguments. I'm no stranger to how businesses are run, I came in with a level mind on what to expect and my intentions were based on the reviews I saw prior to visiting. Even my degree is in IT Business Administration and from what I experienced, I would steer anyone as far away from this location with those kind of business practices. It was a terrible experience and definitely not something I wish upon anybody to go through for their own items. A location like this can take in items for cheap from un-suspecting customers and flip them for extreme amounts of margin and claim that the customer is getting a good deal. For any prospective customers looking to sell and evaluate your product at this location, do yourself a favor and don't work with them. That will be my first and last time visiting here.
