I boarded my horse at Stargazer Ranch for a few months. A friend had recommended it to me, and when I first moved my horse there, it was lovely. The boarders were so nice, as well as the owners. They took very good care of my horse, up until a couple months ago. I'm not sure what happened, but everything switched. My horse stopped getting fed three times a day like he was supposed to be according to our contract, and his buckets for water weren't being filled regularly. He also wasn't getting his daily turnout which is supposed to be for every horse. Stalls stopped getting cleaned consistently, and food was also very low and not being distributed to the horses. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my horse was losing weight and muscle very quickly. I even began to buy my own food, and all they had to do was feed it, but they didn't. The owners had become very rude and hostile towards not only me, but other boarders as well when it came to concerns about their horses, and when they got upset at the boarder for something, they'd take it out on the horse, which is not the correct or professional way to run your business. A year ago, I might have recommended this place for your horse, but now I suggest everyone looking for a facility to stay away from Stargazer Ranch.

If your car can even manage to make it up the pot hole filled driveway, you will have arrived to the worst boarding facility in the will/cook county area. The owner, Abel, is negligent, feeding grain that has mold and maggots (you read that correctly, maggots) and hardly feeding any hay. The paddocks are cramped and never get cleaned by the owner, leaving your horse to get turned out into his own manure. The arena is small and doesnt get dragged or watered, unless a boarder takes care of the job. During the summer months box fans are allowed to hang on the stall but are shut off at night to save money, even though theres no ventilation in the barn and horses are sweating throughout the night...Additionally, the owners attitude is hostile and he gives the impression that he doesnt like animals at all. Not sure why someone who doesnt want to interact with horses or boarders chose to open a boarding facility. For the cost of boarding here Id think my fan would be allowed to stay plugged in at night, and I wouldnt see the owner picking mold out of the grain before he feeds.
