Great trails for walking, running or riding bikes. Most of the surfaces are asphalt or crushed limestone. Nice rolling hills, vistas and a variety of natural eco systems all in one place (lakes, forest, bogs, marsh and prairies). The park is clean and well maintained by the IDNR. Just be sure that you are out of the park and parking lot before the posted closing time or you will get locked in.

The park has wonderful views and even better accommodations. The paths are very well maintained with a plethora of benches and signage. It's very easy to navigate! Additionally, the paths are remarkably clean. When my wife and I go hiking, we always try to pick up whatever trash we can see along the way, but this park seemed to barely have anything built up! I do think something you should know and prepare for should you want to hike is that it can be surprisingly windy. There are several sections where the path leads through a flat area with little to no trees or cover, which can mean fairly intense winds blowing through. Playground: There are multiple areas with playground equipment. They are conveniently placed next to a couple of the parking lots, so if you were to go for just that, it's easy to get there and back. Restrooms: There were multiple restrooms that can be accessed on the trail itself. When we went, we hiked the Red Loop and saw 2-3 different bathrooms along the way. It should be noted that they're more of the outhouse style rather than a flush variety, though that's usually the norm for parks like this. Dog-friendliness: The park is dog friendly, though they expect you to clean up after them. They do have a few stations that give out plastic poop bags to make it easier. Picnic area: Once again, several different areas with full picnic tables. Several are even located under a dedicated structure to keep you dry from the rain.
