I've been with this bank for over 20 years. After they merged with Blackhawk, it went completely downhill. Once, my name and my father's name were on a check that I needed to cash. I was told that my dad and I needed to have a joint account in order to deposit it and that it's the law. I don't know what law they're looking at but that is absolutely inaccurate. We both have separate personal accounts with Blackhawk and we both endorsed the check. This is common practice and I've done it multiple times. Then, I signed up for overdraft protection but was still getting charged NSF fees. They would charge me the NSF fee, take what little money I had in my account, then make my account go negative with said NSF fee. I was told because I was using my account and routing number that it's treated like a bounced check. Okay, I guess that makes some sense, but that needs to be made crystal clear to customers so the appropriate changes can be made. The short PDF they have "explaining" how NSF fees work for their institution is ambiguous and just straight-up misleading. Blackhawk also practices transaction re-sequencing. Lets take, for example, you have $100 in your checking account and you used your debit card to buy, in this sequence, $20 worth of groceries, $30 worth of gasoline, $50 in phone bills and $110 worth of emergency medicine at your Pharmacy even though you knew you didnt have any money left. You had enough money for the first 3 transactions, but not enough for the last one. So you should get charged with only 1 insufficient funds fee for the last transaction of $110, right? Wrong. They'll "re-sequence" the transactions so it's favorable to Blackhawk, incurring 4 NSF fees instead of just one. Dishonest money is still money, right? This bank is no longer on the consumer's side. Go somewhere else.

I have been in business for almost 20 years, and this is now my 4th commercial bank. I can't say enough about Jen Wagner and the team at Blackhawk Bank! I can honestly say they do way more than just loan money. I have a complete level up on security! I was introduced to some new ways of updating my corporate structure. Plus, we are working on my future plans! I was even taken to lunch! Wow! That has never happened to me! Being a business owner, I take customer service seriously and I can honestly say, this has been an amazing experience! You want great customer service? You want people who know their craft? You need Blackhawk Bank! You need Jen and her team!

Blackhawk Bank is great to work with. Jen Wagner, Kim Egger and Dan Smith are excellent at communicating with our clients throughout the commercial loan process. I have confidence referring my clients to Blackhawk Bank, where I know they will be taken care of.
