If you would like to visit a landscape that was present before Winnebago county was settled visit this prairie.

Please do not come to this preserve if you are looking strictly for an easy, foot-safe hike. If you are okay with watching where you are walking so you avoid stepping on wildflowers and plants (some of which are not commonly found elsewhere locally), and stems of plants from previous years, you may truly enjoy a slow meander through this rolling, hilly area. If you are looking for a good sized slice of nature that some dedicated people are working hard to keep safe, you like to come for a gentle, careful walk, enjoy sitting on the ground to sketch interesting flowers, or like a cool walk in the evenings which gives you a higher spot to see the rest of the surrounding area, this preserve is for you. Because some homes border the area, please consider being a good steward and bringing a small trash bag to carry out whatever happens to blow in.
