image A second review, in case they get the other deleted, as a response to the comments that are also lies...
Funny how they can give a response here but play stupid and ignore otherwise. They didn't give the facts. Here is what it is...
My son bought the car in another state, not tx, and drove it back. The previous owner was racing it, but my son brought it as a daily driver. There was never anything stated about the wiring, as I was on every call, because I wouldn't have allowed him to put another $5k in it through you people. He is thinking the motor may be a problem, or the way the transmission was put in, because less than 24 after getting from you guys it stopped running down the street, in Libertyville, and smelled electrical. So you mean to tell me he can drive home with it for 10 hours, use it with third gear out until he could bring to you people, but all of the sudden by no doing of your shop, it has a problem. Not to mention, he told you there was a different transmission in it when he brought it, the exact one actually, but your shop obviously doesn't listen or document anything. Just as I mentioned below, you have no information on the supposed replacement transmission. For all we know you didn't actually replace it, because how do you not know the information on why you ordered and put in it?? Yeah he asked you to take it back since it's clear you guys screwed him. How do you warranty something you have no info on??? By that mantra, he could take that trans out, out another bad one in it, and you have to warranty it because there is no information that you have, so you say, and he wasn't given any Oh and I didn't co-sign anything, he did you lease to own and the rest of the cash he had for his portion Then I outright paid the rest for him, as he 18, has no established credit yet and just got back from the Army, so he is also just getting back to work. Class act you guys are...
You will get lied to, ripped off and left with a broken car, bad service and no real answers after paying $5k
first ordered the incorrect transmission for the replacement. Then when they did get the correct one installed the Labor on the invoice doubled from the previous promised amount. On top of that the car broke down less then 24 hours later and the shop said it was fine when it left so this is our problem, if we can get it over there they will look at it when they can. When we asked for the serial number, or any information on the transmission, we were told they don't document that because people don't ask for that. We did because we noticed it's not in the paperwork. Now we have a car that's bricked, they won't fix, won't refund and have no information on the supposed replacement transmission. Oh plus we need to pay off $2,400 of the $4,966 within 90 days or that loaned part will have exorbitant interest added making that alone $5k.

image Awesome!! Found the transmission issue with our used Mountaineer when 3 other places couldn't. They gave us a good price and got the repairs done quickly.

image I would like to give a big thank you to the AAMCO in Libertyville for their kindness and consideration to me when I brought my vehicle is thinking there was something wrong with the transmission. I had taking the time to it rebuilt in Iowa about two months before. They were very busy but took it in and in a few days started to check it out. They found nothing wrong with transmission but an engine problem. They returned the vehi6eith no charge. Thank you again, Tony S

Business Response on Google Jan 13th, 2024
Ms. Morris, In the interest of full disclosure, your son purchased a modified Subaru in Texas with the intention of racing it. When we first inspected the vehicle, we explained that modifications to the electrical system and wiring had been done to the vehicle prior. Our Transmission Systems check which was performed at no charge did confirm an internal issue within the transmission which could not be corrected with a minor repair or service. We explained the next step was to remove the transmission from the vehicle in order to inspect the components inside the transmission for internal wear and damage. The labor for this removal and inspection was authorized at that time. Once the transmission was disassembled and inspected, we determined that replacement of the transmission would be the most cost-effective solution. We then quoted the full cost for labor which also included installing the replacement Transmisson and upon receiving an ok to proceed, we ordered a specific model transmission which unfortunately was not delivered correctly from the source. This caused us to need to reorder the transmission. The issue was not our ordering the wrong unit and these mistakes at the source occasionally occur. The correct transmission was received and installed properly at which time it was road tested successfully. As to financing, since your son was not able to obtain funds on his own, you volunteered to co-sign for financing through a 3rd party company that services less than perfect credit and they were very clear that their terms included a same as cash option for 90 days. If the monies owed were paid at that time, no interest would accrue. If the debt went beyond 90 days, interest would be charged starting back to when the financing began. Our managers always are very forthcoming to encourage customers to pay this "grace "period" so as not to have to deal with high interest required with a sub-prime lender and the paperwork from the lending company clearly spelled out these terms. Had your son been able to use a traditional credit card or qualify for primary good credit funding, the financing issue would have been much simpler. Sub-prime lenders allow consumers to repair their vehicles without having to pay the entire amount due at the time of repair which is very helpful for many consumers. Regarding the actual obvious cause of your distress, shortly after the transmission was repaired, your son contacted us to state that the engine on his vehicle had seized. We asked to have the vehicle returned to us to inspect it and try to work out a solution, with the understanding that the transmission was under warranty while the engine, if in fact is the cause of this new issue would not be warrantied. You and your son asked if we could remove the transmission and return it for a refund. Unfortunately, once installed, the source companies do not except returns, and we will not commit fraud by not informing the source that the transmission had been installed and delivered in working order. Again, we offered to inspect the vehicle and try to offer solutions to resolve your issue but were not given that opportunity. It is not our intention to leave you high and dry with no assistance. If we are permitted to inspect and evaluate the vehicle, we might be able to find a reasonable solution to assist you. I understand your frustration, however, your anger toward us is misdirected. Please contact us directly if you'd like to have us try to help you. AAMCO Libertyville IL.
