        A hidden forest and scenic river in the middle of the prairie with a bridge overlooking the water where you can watch and wave as the kayakers or canoe-ers float by. And, in the winter during/after snowfall, one can take advantage of the sledding hill--quite popular with the locals. Someone maintains a bonfire there during the sledding season often, it seems. There is a lodge for rental, and of course hiking trails around the area. Overall, it's a refreshing area to take a brake from life in DeKalb county. Parking may be limited.

        The playground is very dated. The slide is very unsafe. My daughter started to fall backward down the stairs when trying to sit to go down (no room at the top). Thankfully, I caught her. I do not recommend this playground. It should be taken down and modernized to do this park justice.
