Utilized this company as property manager for our property in Chicago. Still owes 6 months worth of rent that was collected from the tenant - Would never answer my calls and reply with text stating that he would call back later with no return phone call.

Former tenant of Matt here 1 year back. He will be all smiles at first. Dont get fooled. He gave us 34 notice to move out in spite of me asking him months in advance. After we moved out, ( paint job, professionally cleaned), he tried to keep our security deposit. I waited 45 days and after multiple phone calls he gaslighted us saying that he returned it( after I threatened to lawyer up). He didnt return it. By this point we figured out he wont return it. We contacted a lawyer and successfully sued him in small claims court. He returned our deposit after a few months thinking we would drop the case.( his excuse was that his wife had a difficult pregnancy). He also did not answer to any request from the lawyer. We went ahead with the case and got our court fees plus extra money back. ( it took almost a year but worth it) Reading all the reviews, I would be happy to suggest our lawyer to sue him again lol.

Matt is undoubtedly the worst person I have ever met in my life. Ignored literally all of our requests for two years and then refused to fill out a questionnaire we needed done to move out of the apartment, causing us to lose the new apartment. Only spoke to us when it was to threaten us for being a day or two late on rent. On top of that the apartment is falling apart. Major structural damage causing massive cracks in the ceilings, parts of the apartment had nails sticking out of the floor.

Update 1/9/2023: Matthew Bonnes is refusing to return our security deposits for multiple properties since being fired as our property manager. He simply decided to keep our money. ***If you are having trouble with Matt like so many other people are, please file a complaint through the Department of Real Estate (the DRE) here in California. His license is expired in California, but complaints are still taken very seriously regardless. His (expired) license number here is 01984769. And in Illinois you can file a complaint through the Illinois Dept. of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). His license number in Illinois is 471019952*** Matt has shorted my rent due to me, I've asked for statements explaining charges 4 times now and am ignored completely. This is the last of many, many issues I've had with Matt, and It's only getting worse. I have now fired him, and gotten new management. I am filing a complaint with the IDFPR. I WOULD NOT recommend Skyline as a property manager. Matt is completely unreliable, negligible, incredibly untrustworthy and just a straight up liar.

This is hands down the worst property management I have ever dealt with in my life. Words can not describe how unresponsive these people are. I communicated with Kylie TWICE. Once to sign my lease in the beginning. Once when she wanted my security deposit. That is it. I have emailed regarding a neighbor taking the parking spot in my lease. I have emailed in regards to another person joining the lease. I have emailed in regards to whether or not my lease will be renewed. My lease ends in 2 and a half weeks and I still have yet to receive a response. My roommates are applying to a different apartment and they needed a response from Matt in order to confirm their new apartment. They have left 5 voicemails and several emails and have still not heard back. These people DO NOT CARE about anyone but themselves. They are slumlords. Their property located at 2608 w Potomac Ave in Chicago, IL had a gang-related shooting in the alleyway of the building, which resulted in the NEXTDOOR NEIGHBORS 7 YEAR-OLD SON BEING SHOT AND KILLED. If you decide to rent here, I think you should inquire about that and maybe ask for reduced rent considering the dangers of the location.
