Russ and Keith are very nice guys. They fixed the brakes on my truck quickly for a fair price. There was an issue with a defective part that I ordered, they took care of it and set up a refund for me. I will be getting work done with them going forward.

Okay, i want to start this review out with a little history. I have used A-1 auto on and off for many years. I have until recently been very happy with the small repair work and cost. When i first started going to A-1, what one notices right away is how unorganized, unkept, and well, just filthy the place really is. The men who run the shop seem blue collar, and you can often find them drinking on the job. Certainly, these negative attributes gave me some concerns about using A-1. But, I decided this place had its limitations, and as long as i was aware of those limitations, it would be okay. i would just give them only small jobs, nothing really difficult, and it worked out fairly well for years. But, recently, i didn't use my better judgment. I gave them a large job costing over $2000.00. Well, of course, the repair didn't work out. They claimed it was a faulty part from the supplier, and it needed to be replaced. Now, here is the catch! A-1 DID NOT have a contract with the automotive parts supplier in which if the original part was defective and needed to be replaced, they would pick up the cost of the labor to replace it. So, of course, A-1 now wants to charge me AGAIN, secondary labor charges to replace the bad part. I spoke with the owner, and of course, to no one's surprise, he said they, "DID NOT," guarantee their work. In a nutshell, his argument was this, " We don't guarantee our work because we are the cheapest around town (referring to his labor rate)", therefore i would have to pay to reinstall the replacement part. Yes, i know this makes no sense at all when you think about the FACT that you're basically paying labor costs twice (nothing cheap about that) for the same job that wasn't done right the first time. It was a very unthoughtout statement. Well, i struggled with what to do, and ultimately, i realized i could just find myself stuck in this expensive loop and decided NOT to fall victim to this. I agree that the fault to allow them to move forward with an elaborate and expensive repair was my mistake, given my original plan to limit them to only small repair jobs. Well, i am literally paying for that mistake. I do want to point out that the bad part was NOT my fault nor A-1's fault. But, NOT having a contract with the part's supplier or guaranteeing their work is A-1's fault! In the end, this ONLY means if there is a problem with the repair job, the one who pays (again) is YOU! Sadly, i am not using A-1 Auto again. Follow up. So, yearly June, before the above review was written It was decided that perhaps it was a faulty supplier part. I was asked to come back July 5th, nealy a month out to try and fix the issue. It was at that time i asked the owner if he was gonna repair the issue at no cost. I will admit, i fully expected the owner to fix the issue at no cost given i paid (the first time) $2000.00 for the original repair. The owner stated emphatically that he DID NOT guarantee his work and would ask for an additional small fee of $40.00 dollars. He further when on to say if he didn't charge extra for these kinds of issues, he would lose his shirt....really! Lose his shirt over $40 dollars, lol. I JUST PAID THIS clown $2000 dollars for a bad repair job, and he is asking for MORE money! So, WHO is really losing their shirt? Anyway, i go home and think about this situation, and it really upset me that he wanted more money. So i wrote the original review above and decided i was done with A-1. Then i remembered we still had an appointment on the books for the POSSIBLE fix on July 5th. I decided to go! But, i would demand he either fix the car at no cost or just cancel. But, the owner turned me away. He had read the original review and was upset. I point blank asked him if ANYTHING i said in that review was wrong. He didn't respond. Then, as a second thought, he said he DID guarantee his work!! I asked if that's true WHY was he trying to milk more money out of me? His response was, "It's only $40 dollars!" You just gotta laugh at the unbridled stupidity.
