I should have known to try another place after my first appointment, but I definitely just confirmed I'm switching practices. Upon checking in for my initial appointment, the doctor who I was about to see was joking to the receptionists in front of me about how gross it was that one of her patients hemorrhaged all over her during delivery. She was complaining about it in front of staff and patients. Personally, for someone who hemorrhaged during birth, this was absolutely revolting and insulting. Then today, I called to ask the doctor a question and was told my doctor was out by the receptionist. I then asked to speak to another doctor that day, and she told me some old call me by the end of the day. The work day was almost done, so I called back to talk to someone. That receptionist asked me my symptoms, and I told her general symptoms. She continued to pry for more, and I told her I was not comfortable sharing my personal medical symptoms with a receptionist and that I would like to speak to a doctor or a nurse. She continued to object saying I should just come in, and I persisted to speak to a doctor. Finally, the doctor came on the line, and I'm decently sure the doctor was in the reception area when speaking with me because I could hear background noise. While on the phone, the doctor was talking about my personal information most likely in front of the receptionist which is completely inappropriate. Not only that, but the doctor made light of my symptoms by sarcastically stating, "Well, that's no fun." The entire experience was completely unprofessional and revolting. For a profession that is typically dominated by a women, I felt completely devalued as a woman. I will undoubtedly be switching practices, and I highly recommend you update your practice with professional and more considerate standards.
