Terrible Exeperience

Anyone considering this school should ask the following questions: 1) What was the student attrition rate between fall of 2017 and fall of 2018? (Hint: it was huge) 2) What was the faculty attrition rate between fall of 2017 and 2018? (Hint: roughly 1/3) 3) UPWS had graduating 8th grade classes in 2017 and 2018, but doesn't have a graduating class in 2019. Why? (Virtually the entire 7th grade left in April, 2018). This was our experience last year. Totally ineffective governance structure. Priorities all wrong.

Love this school!  It has done wonders for my son!  This school provides a wonderful community of well-rounded, polite, and interested kids.  I can't say enough wonderful things here!

Amazing school and staff. My kids have been going here since it's inception about 7 years ago and all the changes have been very positive. I love this school, what a great system, if you are not familiar with Waldorf education and have small children, please do yourself a favor and research the education system. My kids love going to school. Let me reemphasize this; MY KIDS LOVE GOING TO SCHOOL. Haters to the left.

I am teacher at this school and I'm writing this review from that perspective. I worked here part-time for a couple years (2011-13) when the school was still very young and in it's initial location. It was a positive and supportive place then. I returned in the fall of 2019 and I have never been happier and felt more supported in any work environment. I am so glad to have come back. With the time away, I can readily see how the school has grown and improved. I have never worked at an educational institution that is so deeply committed to equity and inclusion, where the entire faculty is actively, enthusiastically, and humbly engaged in discussions around that. My understanding and appreciation of the world is being nourished here. I have been supported with funding for many professional development workshops. I have been regularly supported by my colleagues, who really support each other with positive energy, ideas, discussions, brain storming, helping hands, and challenging each other to strive for better and better.  At the heart of it all is a focus on the children and the understanding that we are the best teachers when we are supported day-to-day and in professional development, and when we are growing as human beings and striving as much as we ask the children to do.
