image I highly recommend the wood shop. You will not find a better and complete collection of Black art anywhere else. Theres so many layers of rich history in the shop and held by the owner. He introduced me to art as a poor college student. There was an art show in the old parking lot of Seaway bank on 87th street. He persuaded a late artist by the name of Parham to sell me a print at a reduced price. Whenever I return to Chicago I stop in and have purchased other pieces. DAngelo gave me a tour of the shop and I was amazed with the art he had from the time of slavery to his Annie Lee collection, an artist he sponsored. He also educated me on collecting art and not buying known names but investing in artist that are up and coming. I have since visited Black Art shops throughout the U.S. Im always amazed at how many people know him and know of his vast collection. There is no better shop for Black art than at the Woodshop.
NOTE: I use the term Black because of it not just being African American but a representation of Black artist from around the globe.
