This project was completed in 2018, and it entailed the prep and application of a repellant/waterproof chemical to a single side of a masonry wall of a building, to help with water saturation, and slow down deterioration of renaissance stone. Prior to starting this project, we engaged the waterproof manufacturer, who sent out their independent representative, to confirm the effectiveness of the waterproof to be used for this project. The representative applied the initial test panels, made follow up visits to check the product effectiveness, and completed a final test after the project was completed. The final visit included random checks to confirm proper product application. We choose to go thought this additional process with the product manufacturer in order to provide the customer a “Manufacturer Material Warranty” which is an additional warranty where a third party verifies proper product application. At your request, the manufacturer performed additional follow up visit & tests in 2020. These visits confirmed that the waterproofing product worked as intended. In 2020 the customer also expressed dissatisfaction with the difference in the shade of the spot-tuckpointing versus surrounding areas. Because any elevation will have many different shades depending on age, staining and exposure to natural elements (sun, rain, etc.) perfect match is not possible. Nonetheless, we made follow up visits to building, and performed additional treatments in order to dampen the color and texture differential.The customer also expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that not all leaks were resolved. While exterior masonry wall is an important component of keeping water out, improper roofing systems, inappropriate counter flashing installation, lack of through wall capstone flashing, and cracks in foundation will also contribute to water penetration. After numerous follow up visits, it was determined that exterior masonry elevation, as part of our scope, is not the cause of the leaks that persisted at the building. We regret not being able to resolve all the issues that the building is experiencing. We feel confident that the work performed was of high quantity and workmanship, which has been affirmed during multiple follow up visits by the independent product manufacturer representative.
