Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club Chicago

A good place to learn Jiu jitsu. I used to pay monthly fees in advance as I was enrolled in auto payment plan. When I decided to leave I had just paid my month advance, so I asked the gym to keep the fees I had paid and return my deposit that I had paid during the time of enrollment but they refused to pay saying that its their policy to let them know in advance. Also they kinda pressure you indirectly to enroll in the program and have $100 reward towards monthly fees for leaving 5 star review. My advice is to not feel pressured to sign up and try different gyms. Also read their cancellation policy really well.

EDIT: - Great place to learn BJJ; no issues there. I would totally go back if they had a schedule that better fit mine. - Felt pressured signing up during the 1 x trial class. Later on, they told me they'd give me a refund for a Gi that I never used, and they did eventually honor their word (only after much discourse and days of texting). Their customer service representative was defensive, accusatory, and not very helpful... she said things like they had refunded my membership when they hadn't.

Did a 7am drop-in class at Downtown Jiu Jitsu and had a great time. Everybody was super friendly and the instructor was great. I had to cancel my initial booking and they were totally flexible with me attending at another time. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting Chicago!

I have been training at Downtown Jiu Jitsu Club since August and have nothing but good things to say about the club, instructors, and other members. The classes are informative and challenging. The community is respectful and encouraging; pushing each other to continue to grow and develop. I would strongly recommend the club to anyone looking for a BJJ gym and community.
