I saw Dr. Kavitt in 2020 for a ongoing swallowing issue I had for over 25 years and had seen about a dozen different doctors with generally the same diagnosis. I came close to dying a few times for not being able to swallow food. They had all said I just needed to chew my food longer and avoid foods like beef or chicken.
Dr. Kavitt told me I had an eroded and tilted esophagus and we should do a biopsy and then probably perform an EGD and inflate the esophagus. After 3 visits in a month, I was cured..100%. Dr. Kavitt saved my life, I thought he was extremely intelligent...but did lack a Dr. Welby bedside manner, so what, he knows what he is doing! This doctor is the best in his field.

I have achalasia, a rare disease, and Dr Kavitt's knowledge as an epidemiologist was invaluble in my search for answers. He was patient in answering my questions and figured out the actual cause of my pain (which neither of my surgeons had identified correctly). My quality of life is so much better now. If you have achalasia or another challenging GI condition, he may be the right doctor for you too. I found him to be both compassionate and thorough. As for my appointments, I did not have any problems with scheduling and my overall experience at U of C was very good.

This doctor is rude. Doesn't tell you anything. Doesn't want to answer questions. Don't waste time or money on him.

The office of Dr Kavitt is unprofessional. I was rescheduled 4 times for an appointment and decided to ask for a different referral. I would not feel comfortable being handled by a team of unprofessionals.
