City News Cafe

This place carries a huge variety of magazines, including in foreign languages. That said, my favorite area to browse is the wall of books on Chicago; the various neighborhoods, unique bits of history, architecture and on & on. The cafe area excels in its own right with coffee & pastries - even vegan options. Enjoy a great cup of coffee and live music on weekends. Just a wonderful place.

City News Cafe is straight outta the 90s for me and I couldn't love that more. Coffee is the best price in town and you can browse all of the reading options available. It feels like when all of the Barnes and Nobles disappeared, they took a piece of them and put it in City News Cafe. Our clerk was so friendly and informative about coffee options... Not to mention the free chocolate truffles that are made in house. This place has a the appeal of an old school cafe without the worry an over pretentious batista and solid choices of pastries and juices. The magazine catalogue has old school and new school releases with subjects ranging in every catagory... Even mature content. Absolutely love this place and the staff. Can't say enough good things about City News Cafe!

This place rocks. Very cool magazines and back issues on the racks. Their pour over coffee is delicious and cheap. Donna holds it down; she gave me a free truffle as it was my first visit to the shop since I was a child comic book reader. I look forward to attending a silent movie with live organ later this month. Such a special local business Im glad is still around.
