Great company. Bogdan was very kind during the touring process. And was more concerned with making sure that I liked the apartments rather than just trying to get me to sign a lease

Not renewing my contract and finally getting out: Building itself is quite old (I believe it was built in the 60s). Windows have only 1 layer of glass which doesnt help at all with insulation during winter months to keep the cold weather out. I had to use 2 space heaters between November and April (my AC bill was over $150 for those months) to keep my unit warm enough to live in. Building has central heating but I can barely feel the heat. There are 2 elevators in the building and one of them is constantly breaking down. Last time it broke down, it was out for 3-4 weeks with minimal updates from the building management about repair completion dates. Elevator wait times were over 5 minutes which is crazy especially if you are in a hurry. Elevators also have this weird old smell all the time and they do not feel safe at all. A building around the corner (801 N Dearborn St) is going through some renovations and you could hear annoying concrete drilling and hammering sounds from time to time especially if your unit is facing north or east. Chestnut St. is right between N La Salle Dr. and N Clark St. These streets are frequently used by firetrucks and ambulances going south/north at all sorts of odd hours with loud sirens which can sometimes be annoying if you are trying to get a good nights sleep. There is a small gym with outdated treadmills and not much equipment. Patio only has charcoal grills. You have to buy your own coal if you want a BBQ. Property manager is only in 2 times per week, I think. She responds late (usually couple days after) to the emails.

I'm very sad to be leaving this apartment as I had a fantastic experience in my 1-bedroom here. The neighborhood is cute, cozy, and walking distance from red line/downtown which is extremely convenient. Apartment staff goes above and beyond with any maintenance requests and are warm & welcoming. I will especially miss the gym and the library collection in the basement. Thanks for a great time 55 W Chestnut!

I have been living in this apartment building for 3 years now and I absolutely love it!!!! moved here in 2020 and its been a great experience from the start and feels like home. Highlights: - location in amazing neighborhood while still being on a residential block, full of trees, while still being close to lakefront/restaurants/grocery/transport. - units all have bay windows and let in tons of light. cement walls between units and floors mean almost NO neighbor noise. - my dog and I are regulars of the back patio/sun deck on ground floor. Its fenced in, huge, feels secluded, is well maintained, and has a ton of greenery and trees for shade. - management team, maintenance, and door staff are exceptional in their professionalism and responsiveness. they make it feel homey and safe. - pet-friendly! both in literal apartment terms and tenants/staff friendliness. nearby green areas, dog parks, and daycare around the corner. the aforementioned back patio is an amazing part of this and is big enough for pets and people and families to enjoy at the same time. - tenants range from early 20s students to young families to folks who have lived in the building for 50 years. makes it really welcoming and community vibe. - random but a favorite, a library wall in the laundry room. hundreds of books. unofficial take one/leave one so theres new stuff all the time. - plenty of street parking out front on chestnut. never had any issues with visitors etc being able to find a place. Theres other stuff Im sure I forgot but thats the highlights!
