Parkland College

one of the women in the financial aid office was so cold and unhelpful to me that i almost quit school for good. i was crying asking for options to pay because they took my financial aid away unexpectedly. i asked about a payment plan and she looked at me like i was stupid, and slowly said "no...". but there is a payment plan available so she was wrong. she has no business being in such a position where her attitude and lack of knowledge about her job could cause a student to give up on school entirely.

I'm a UIUC student and took Curtis Shoaf's physics 121 class and it was the most pathetic excuse for a class I've ever seen. He created lecture videos and slides in which he doesn't show, nor verbalize what intermediate calculations he performed. Rather than him teaching, it was like he provided a low-quality jumble of text and video and left it to me to educate myself with it. I emailed him about it and he implied that I wasn't proficient at algebra, which made me wish I'd enrolled in an in-person class from him for no other reason than so I could laugh in his face, directly. I also emailed the person in charge of the department, Scott Siechen, who merely supported the teacher and echoed the implication that I'm incompetent in algebra. His email had grammatical errors (I'm including a screenshot of it with my review), making the accusation seem even more absurd that Shoaf's. If you need to take a class somewhere, I would NOT recommend checking out Parkland College. It's nothing more than an overpriced clown college.
