Thoroughly disgusted- having authored letters to AMITA, our insurance carrier and the office itself, I will suppress the urge to detail every account of our shameful and objectionable 2 month long experience with the 2HT Kidney practice and spare the readers their time - but with only one real nephrology practice in this area, I felt its necessary for this review - if only in hopes of attracting new nephrologists to our area. If you can help it (traveling elsewhere) do not rely on this practice. Though I dont believe it was always like this ...
A physician in this office cared for my mother before she passed years ago. I did not live in the state at the time but when we had our Sunday chats on the phone neither she nor my father voiced any concerns or complaints in fact, they praised a particular physician in this office! With her passing I returned to the area and now care for my elderly, disabled dad; a diabetic amputee w/stage 3 kidney disease.
In hindsight, the big red flags that appeared in my initial calls to this practice, and even more red flags in subsequent conversations with staff prior to his first appointment should have been warning enough. But I was unable to convince him so out of respect for my his feelings and his sense of loyalty for theyre aid to my mother, I obliged.
On the way home from his first in-office visit we debated whether this was the very same office they spoke of back then. He affirmed so and we agreed, neither of us had ever experienced a business office, let alone a medical practice in such disarray to the point that I was embarrassed for them!
The staff in the office was either literally stumbling over one another or so out of touch that they were completely oblivious to anyone - including patients walking in or in the waiting area! Some staff came off as rude and impolite, discourteous - not just to us! And in an office where you treat some people who are fighting for their lives well, I was convinced this was a newly opened office with brand new staff with no training. But then, to be greeted by a doctor who seemed equally as clueless floored me. Not just the first appointment either - in the follow up appointment it was even worse! After all the labs and tests, all the conversations his staff had not only with myself but his primary care internist as well, and NO CHART in hand (or on computer) - the doctor had no idea as to why my dad was there, what they were to do at the time and what needed to be done next.
To be truthful, it was as if the entire office had been drugged. I would not have been surprised to get an apology call the following day informing me there was some sort of gas leak in the building that caused everyone to act odd. It was that bad. This is my dads life, his livelihood, and to experience what we experienced over the course of two months has caused my (once loyal) dad that hed rather suffer at home than return to 2HT.
We need more nephrologists in this area.

#1 Automatic door opener on Front exterior door has not worked in over 6 months. most of your patients need assistance getting through this door. Please fix.
#2 Waiting room seating needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Cushions are no longer useful. It is hard to get out of chair because we are sitting in a hole.
#3 Staff turnover is too high. Wonder about quality of care when so little attention is spent selecting and retaining good help.

Dr. Hashmi had me schedule a follow up appointment which he skipped entirely. I was then told i needed to reschedule several weeks later if i wanted to meet with him. Thankfully they made the appointment only two weeks later. The second appointment was to be done by phone and 30 minutes before that call i was informed that his policy had changed and i needed to have he appointment in person or not at all. I was unable to make the visit on such late notice and he again skipped the appointment entirely. Its unfortunate that his helpful reception staff have to apologize for this lack of professionalism
