A really nice laid back place with fast great service. The best Philly steak sandwich I've had in a long time.

Its hard to see change. The old Panhandler Pies has been replaced with a modern styled self-serve restaurant that lacks all the charm and quality food the previous restaurant championed. Having had multiple dishes, Ive been disappointed by the flavor of each plate so far. But though pizza places are popping up all over town, this one has a dang good pizza. The pork chop was a hefty portion and has an overwhelming flavor of salt. The sauce is the only thing that saves it. Wherever they are sourcing this cut of meat from, its missing the quality I would expect. The savory burger is no different than the childrens cheese burger in size. Change the cheese, add some savory sauces and greens, charge $10 more, and there you have it. A general run of the mill $18 burger that doesnt surprise. The best thing going for this establishment is their pizza. Its great for kids, since a cheese pizza for $8 is the same size as any other pizza for the adults. I know they didnt intend for the pizza to be a hit like it is, but Im hoping they are able to focus on changes with their menu to bring the quality of food up. Its not my nature to pick apart things like this, but I really had high hopes for this new establishment and the facelift it received. I wish them all the best, but sub-par food topped with savory sauces doesnt equate to a quality dining experience for me. I wish the group who owns this and other restaurants in town all the best and apologize for the negative review, but if I have to be honest as a Sandpoint native, this feels exactly in line with all the other changes Sandpoint is experiencing with an influx of new influences.

Hi Sam, we appreciate you taking the time to write out a well put together review, it offers an opportunity to address a few specifics in questions.Food quality- while it is challenging to train and uphold a team to a high level of standard, it's more disheartening to hear the food quality isn't the same, and you'd be right, we absolutely struggle at moments as we continue to build a team that is required to cook every single meal to order. We don't microwave people's food. Period. It goes against everything that we stand for and it's a flat disappointment seeing how many people frequent places that do nothing but microwave food and serve it to the customers at a top dollar, yet it becomes raved over. What's the point of going out if your food is getting tossed in a microwave and heated up from a frozen package?Pizza- We love to that you enjoyed this park of your experiences, the dough is made from a scratch sourdough starter that we created as a experiment to further educate our teams, the grain is sourced through the Shepards Grainery that's grown and milled in Northern Oregon. Our sauces are made from scratch and the cheese is even grated in house. The pork chop- Is sourced for Carlton Farms, an artisan meat company in Oregon that has prestigious lineage on all of their animals, there's only one higher quality of pork on the market, Duroc, and that plate would cost $40 to serve. The burger- We don't feel kids should have to have lesser quality meals then their parents thus, we use the same exact burger for the kids as the adults. Why? Because parents deserve to take their kids out for a nice meal and the kids don't get fed garbage food. We don't make any money on kid's plates, it's a convenience for the parents for when they want to enjoy a meal with the family.  Ground Ribeye burgers for the whole family! But the issue stops with the burger because the same size for the pizza doesn't bother? We hope this clears up some questions and comments surrounding food, sourcing, quality, etc. It's a beautiful and yet challenging industry to survive in, let alone thrive. With all things considered, we hope to see you in our establishments again in the near future.
