Luther Park at Sandpoint | An Ecumen Managed Living Space

Do not place your loved ones in this facility. Our parents with dementia experienced many significant gaps in their care. Ongoing training and support of staff is poor, resulting in uneven care. Communication was often extremely poor, and a high turnover of nurses (5 in 3 years) resulted in neglect, documented by the state ombudsman. Between one changeover of nurses, residents differing needs were not communicatedour father was in hospice; a new head nurse was not informed. Residents are often left at the ER without provision of transportation back to the facility. The administration is not supportive. It would be a mistake to place your loved ones at Luther Park-Sandpoint, or any Ecumen facility.

My sister was in the Memory Care Unit at Luther Park for 15 months before her death. The staffing became horrible.......sometimes 1 Resident Assistant for over 20 residents in Memory Care. While the staffing was very deficient, the administration raised my sister's level of care to a Level 3 and also added a Compassion and Behavior Management charge of $600/month. They weren't able to consistently provide a basic level of care, let alone an advanced level of care. The licensed nurses turned over often with little follow through. My sister sustained second degree burns from an unknown source while in their care. Some of the Resident Assistant's are wonderful, conscientious, caring individuals, others seem to be there just for the paycheck. Their turnover was large and I know of some who quit because of the unrealistic expectations, day after day, due to low staffing. My experience with Luther Park was definitely lacking what one would hope for in a Memory Care Unit where the residents are at the mercy of the staff and administration.

Lutherpark is a beautiful facility. It offers a safe, comfortable and caring place for seniors to live as well as activities for all to enjoy. The apartments are very nice. They have accommodations in place to provide personal care. There is assisted care as well as memory care. They provide transportation into town for appointments and shopping. It is a place I would be happy to call home.

My parents have been fortunate to live at Luther Park for nearly three years. The most impressive feature of this facility is the excellent staff that has cared for them with kindness and consideration--cooks, servers, nurses, cleaners, and everyone who has helped pave the way to comfort and full living. The meals have been wonderful, and my dad enjoys Wii bowling and riding the exercise bike. I'm thankful for this facility in Sandpoint! It's also very attractive.
