    We are so pleased with our window treatments from Covered. Madeline Funk guided me to find stylish shades that were also energy efficient. She was professional and patient throughout the whole process. The installation team also went above and beyond to adapt the shades to our existing windows. Our living room and bedroom now have a new polished and contemporary look. Thank you!

    It pains me to write this review as I believe in trying to support local businesses. I was happy to purchase all my Hunter-Douglas blinds from Eric Seder the former owner of Shutters and Shades. He was a gem to work with. Unfortunately his business has apparently been taken over by Andrew (Covered) whose stock in trade seems to be offering excuses for poor service and arguing with customers. My pull cord for one shade broke 9 days ago and I couldnt repair it myself. Simple matter of replacing a cord after opening the unit for a repair. When I dropped it off I was not informed about any backed up repair waitlist. 3 days later I called to check on the repair and was told that I was next on the list for repairs. That was 5 days ago; today I spoke to Andrew directly and he repeatedly invoked the pandemic, building boom in town, lack of help, etc. etc. I was frankly surprised at his arrogance and condescension, thinking initially from his accent that he was British; Brits are invariably polite, respectful, and dignified. Then I learned that he was Australian! At the very least he lacks communication skills; the first rule of good customer service is to never argue with customers, totally counterproductive, There is a long list of negative reviews of him on Google reviews; I should have checked before visiting Covered. Andrews lack of regard for customers concerns draws particular attention, Im far from the first to note this. Theres another shade business in town who has offered to take care of it right away thank God..

Dear Dr HoffmanThank you for taking the time to leave a review. Sincere apologies for a very belated reply. I am Andrew’s wife and business partner and the manager of the google account. I have been quite Ill since my Covid infection in early 2020 and not able to return to work so we have been juggling. In the meantime this account was hacked and I was removed as a manager and I did not see your review and the dozen of fake reviews. We had a disgruntled individual access the account that was not happy about being asked to mask when Ketchum had a mandate. So what appears to be a string of dissatisfaction is not the reality. You are correct about cultural differences among Australians. I am American and lived there 20 years. Australians value implicit straightforward authenticity and thus it can sometimes be lost in translation for Americans as rudeness. It took me a while to adjust to this. Andrew used his straight forward authenticity with the anti- masker and we have been attacked for that. Andrew lacked the well practiced American finesse for customer service when you asked to speak with him as the owner about the delay in your repair. The team diagnosed the problem in your shade, ordered a part, and offered a free temporary shade. We determined it was more than a restring. If the restring you were able to find someone else to do does not last contact Hunter Douglas directly and you can ship repairs to their head office. Since we took over the business we have tried to improve wait times for repairs by having designated hours for repairs rather than leaving them for random free time which meant wait times could stretch for 4-6 weeks in the summer. We strive to make improvements and apologize that this was not your experience. We take your feedback seriously and although you left before we could complete the repair we have taken your thoughts into the future and hope we can be more sensitive to the frustration of unquantifiable delays and strive to communicate this better. I realize this is long overdue but wanted you to know the context of the situation and that we have taken your experience as an opportunity to improve. Regards, Kim Harris
