The lady who answers the phone does not sound like she likes her job and is very rude. It's disappointing.

When I asked for help regarding filling my prescriptions out of state, the woman I spoke to was rude, unhelpful, and told me to figure it out for myself.

Healthy Connections has determined that Covid is over and it's time to make seeking health care as difficult, embarrassing, and inconvenient as possible again! Nothing about this program is effective or efficient and certainly is not saving the working class tax payers any money. Individuals are now required to have a referral for each and every follow up visit to a specialist from their primary care provider only - even after the initial referral - and even if the referral was given in the emergency room. That's twice the doctor visits and longer times to access the urgent care people need to heal and remain productive members of society. That's twice the amount of time of sitting in doctor's offices around other sick patients. That's twice the time off of work for extraneous doctor visits. That's how people lose their jobs and give up on taking care of themselves and feel hopeless. If you visit the doctor you were referred to without the appropriate number of referrals (which is difficult to determine and is decided by the specialist you are seeing), you will be asked to make a choice between two options: 1) cancel your appointment and reschedule after going back to your PCP for an appointment in order to get the required referrals (deferring your necessary treatment up to days or weeks) or 2) sign a waiver that when Medicaid denies paying you will make the full payment yourself. Primary Health is no longer accepting Medicaid patients as of 2021 for their primary care providers and just going into the clinic to be seen and get a referral does not count as seeing your PCP for a referral that will be usable. If a doctor outside of your "insurance network" phones in a prescription for you, no one will call you or the provider back to request a different provider phone in the prescription. Instead, you will be greeted with "it was denied [by Medicaid]" and you will not be able to pick it up unless you beg Healthy Connections or your provider to try again. This could take precious hours or days to remedy. Your other option is to straight-up pay out of pocket. All of this is a travesty and an absolute waste. It is abusive and fundamentally wrong. It appears one is better off not having insurance and just going into debt to get the treatment and prescriptions they deserve and need in a timely manner.
