JTC has been my go-to for a few years now and has always been excellent. This year, not so much. For the price you pay, you would expect good communication, but I found it difficult to get even a return call on most occasions. My return was also filed a WEEK after I had signed off on it, AND I had to be the one to call and see what was going on and why it hadn't been filed... Unfortunately, this is not the same firm that it used to be.

This year we began to work with Kyle and Terry for our business and personal taxes. These two (and the whole JTC team) have made our transition to an S-CORP a SEAMLESS process. We know a few things about taxes, but once more forms and taxes got thrown into the mix we knew that there was no way we could do them on our own anymore. With the help of the JTC team, we have saved thousands of dollars on taxes, and so many hours of stress by not having to fill out any forms that we had no idea how to fill out. Thank you JTC for helping the financial side of things run smoothly for us so we can focus more on our business rather than taxes!

JTC CPAs failed to meet my expectations of the usual and customary performance of a licensed CPA firm and failed to take responsibility for mistakes they made. I am a partner of a medical business, own commercial real estate in an LLC, have my own consulting business, and a real estate business. Me and two of my business partners relied upon JTC to prepare and file some or all of our 2022 tax returns, and unfortunately, the experience was not ideal and the outcomes were poor. I am a CPA who started my career in a tax firm, so am familiar with the general practices and performance of CPA firms. I have long since left the tax world and prefer to hire qualified CPAs to keep me compliant and the Government happy. My first meeting with Jack Trent was impressive. He seemed knowledgeable, insightful, and more than capable of keeping us compliant and minimizing our tax. A "project manager" also attended our meeting, and I was excited to have a dedicated person to take care of our needs. However, when the filing for our 2022 taxes were all said and done, the outcome was far below reasonable standards. It turned out that the work for my various returns and that of my partner were sent out to various tax preparers. This alone is not unusual, but what was unusual is that they each seemed to be operating in their own silo not aware of the others and only in tune with one little aspect of my tax. Neither Jack Trent nor the "proejct manager" (who really is just a tax preparer who communicates with me) were involved in the preparation of our returns. Reviews were not sufficient to identify the problems I found on my own. I received multiple phone calls with questions. All told, I believe about three different people worked on my returns and contacted me with various questions. This alone is not bad--just different. However, not having someone pull everything together, communicate with me clearly, and to make sure everything was in tip top shape led to a lot of costly mistakes (which I am now paying). All said and done, the errors and oversights on my returns were drastic: -A prepayment of mine was not included. -An underpayment penalty was incorrectly applied (I had met the minimum amount per my previous years' tax due). -A spreadsheet detailing the which of my dependents to include was ignored. -They did not think to ask if my prior accountant had filed an extension, so had applied a late filing penalty. -Partner loan amounts shown in the schedules were swapped. -A routine S-Election for a first-year business was filed incorrectly resulting in a denial by the IRS. -The resolution for the S-Election mistake is still pending after more than 4 months since notice from the IRS. -Details pertaining to the R&D Tax Credit were not conveyed leaving us on our own to determine if we should work harder to obtain that potential tax benefit. -My electronic federal return was rejected, so it had to be mailed in. Upon mailing my return for me, they failed to notice that I still needed to pay tax. They did not tell me I needed to mail a check (and how would I not having been the one to mail the return?). The IRS imposed penalties in interest that tripled the amount I owed. Upon requesting assistance including either resolution or paying the penalty themselves, they took nearly two months to tell me that they wouldn't be accountable and that they could not get the IRS to waive the penalty. I believe if I wasn't a CPA and reviewed my returns carefully, many, if not all, of these errors would have been included on my actual tax filing. If you do not want to be responsible for catching these sorts of oversights, do not hire this firm to be your accountant. All in all, it's safe to say that I would not feel confident relying on this firm to prepare my taxes, advise me on tax issues, settle issues with the IRS, or communicate to me clearly and timely about the various items needing my attention.

Kyle and Nick are the best! They have helped my wife and I two years in a row now and are extremely thorough. We figured we should go through a CPA when my wife started her business and JTC has exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend!
