Hakuna Matata Maui Hostel

The hostel is in a perfect location! The back door opens directly onto the beach. I arrived super late on the day I had to check in because my flight was canceled and they left me the instructions to get there without any problem, I also extended my stay and they had absolutely no problem letting me do it. The people who stay there are super friendly, I made a lot of friends there and everything works super well! The managers are super cool and even gave us really valuable travel tips! I highly recommend it!!!

Great place to stay in Maui!! Next to the beach, very clean and super friendly staff. You can get bikes and surfing equipment for free.

Hakunana Matata Hostel made my experience in Maui surreal. Everything was very clean, it was never too loud, anything you need is in walking distance, there are free surfboards/snorkels/bikes to use, the community is so wonderful, and altogether it just feels like a second home. I would recommend to anyone and everyone I know!! Definitely the best hostel I have ever stayed in

Everything was super clean. No bugs besides little ants in the kitchen. The rooms come a dresser per bed with 4 drawers. It can be hot in the rooms at night. The location is pretty perfect. Its a 30 second walk to the beach. Theres free surfboards,paddle boards and snorkel stuff to use. If your staying in bedroom 1 it will be pretty loud in the mornings as its right beside the kitchen. One morning a girl was practically screaming on FaceTime in the kitchen and woke my whole room up at 5:30 AM. Its a pretty quiet hostel if your looking for a more introverted hostel this would be the ideal hostel for you. The vibe seems to be that most people keep to themselves. Workers are nice and helpful. Definitely do not leave anything on the beach closest to the hostel unattended ever because theres a few homeless in the area that are known for robbing peoples things on the beach or in the parked cars.

Could not have wished for a more beautiful and memorable stay than that which I had at Hakuna Matata. Before arriving Daniel was extremely helpful and communicative in relation to my booking, upon arriving and meeting Irving who, from the start, provided a really warm welcome and insight into Maui and the hostel and anything I might need. Both Daniel and Irving were so helpful, friendly and kind throughout our stay, the hostel was incredibly clean and it's assuring to see they take pride in ensuring the space is respected and kept to a good standard of cleanliness. The people I stayed with were above and beyond - a truly amazing mix of women from all around the world who I have lasting memories with. All the equipment available (snorkeling, paddle boards, surf boards and more), the coffee and morning pancakes, the garden leading to the ocean, the proximity to Lahaina - to be honest, there's absolutely nothing to dislike about this place. I want to extend a huge thank you to both Irving and Daniel for your kindness and hospitality - and running an amazing place for people to stay on your beautiful island. Aloha to you both - and thank you for everything X
