Extremely Disappointed with the Enormous Unexpected Charges! I recently rented a car from Sixt at the Maui Kahului Airport and had an extremely disappointing experience due to unexpected charges. I initially reserved a full-size sedan for a seven-day rental at $317.92. Upon checking in, I inquired about upgrading to an SUV. The agent offered the upgrade for an additional $100 after applying a 50% discount on the original $200 upgrade fee. I agreed to this, as it was clearly displayed on the screen. However, when I returned the car, I was shocked to see a total charge of $879.13. After contacting Sixt customer service, I was told that the $100 upgrade fee was actually a daily charge, not a one-time fee for the entire rental period. This was never communicated to me by the agent, nor was it displayed on the screen when I agreed to the upgrade. Furthermore, the $200 daily upgrade fee seems unreasonable, given that the price for a 7-day rental of the same SUV on their website is only $75 per day. I believe this could be a paperwork error, but Sixt customer service has been uncooperative and unwilling to adjust the charges. I am extremely disappointed in Sixt's handling of this situation and their lack of transparency regarding the upgrade charges. Their customer service has been unhelpful, and I feel deceived by the rental agent's misrepresentation of the fees. I cannot, in good faith, recommend Sixt to anyone in the future, and I urge potential customers to exercise caution when dealing with this company.
