If Taxes are your Kryptonite then these kind folks at Aloha Tax Service are your super heroes. I've done more taxes with Larry for more years than I can count. He rescued me out of a bad situation and has kept me on track ever since. Grateful doesn't cover what I feel for this man. Mahalo!

Of course these days one can do tax returns using software.  When you're mathematically challenged and afraid of an IRS audit because of an inadvertent mistake, you use the services of a professional like we do.   For over ten years, we've had our taxes done by Bob Thue (pronounced two) at Aloha Tax Service which is located on Hobron near Waikiki and the Ala Wai Canal.  There's validated parking in the somewhat confusing parking structure which is used by both residents of the building and the businesses that have their offices in the building. Bob has a small office with one of the best views I've seen.  His office overlooks a magnificent banyan tree.  I even like the yellow 70s style cubicle colors in the office.  Makes the place seem very cheery.  It's not a big office so don't bring an entourage. There are other accountants in the office but we've always gone to Bob after a relative recommended him.  I'm happy to report we've had no issues with our tax returns... Knock on wood.  Bob is very mild mannered, reserved and almost like a Vulcan on Star Trek in terms of personality.  He shows very little emotion or animation, but people.. that is what you want from a  tax preparer.  You dont want someone exuberant and creative.  You want someone solid, reliable and conservative.  Your taxes aren't where you should get innovative.They charge based on how complicated your return is.  So we pay about $125 for our married filing jointly return which is somewhat complicated.  The money we pay him is worth it for the peace of mind. Plus, you can deduct that fee on your return the following year if you itemize.
