Only 2 reviews? Make that 3. My Aunt was there but a decision had to be made to have her either to go back to her own home, but needs 24/7 care. Dept at HALE OLA KINO referred her to a nice residential care, in Manoa, close by where she lives, in Moilili. I heard from my cousins of the staff at where she was, being better than what they've experienced with other relatives in the past.....

I suffered a severe fall back in September, 2019. I fractured my tailbone and pelvis. I had been to the hospital for quite awhile, on and off, sent to Rehab Hosptial of the Pacific. (I absolutely did not like it there). On my last visit to Queen's Hospital, they advised that they would release me to a nursing home with great therapy reviews. Out popped the selections of nursing homes that met my certain criteria. I am happy that I went there. My confinement was for 28 days. In the beginning I was lucky enough to be by myself, however, about 7-8 days later, I got stuck with a severely dementia ridden lady that made my life miserable. I was offered two choice, move to another room (meaning upchucking my sense of being) or stay and deal with it. I chose the latter. After awhile it didn't seem so bad, although my roommate had spouts of yelling at me which I took in stride. When things got tough, I hopped into my wheelchair and rolled up and down the halls for exercise. My therapy was with Genesis, they contract to Hale Ola Kino. It was there that I learned how to walk again. It was super tough, I cried, I was frustrated, but knowing that I needed to do this became okay. After awhile, lying down in bed, my only outlet is my computer, so I continued my work. In the beginning, it was tough, attempts to walk was filled with pain but I was determined. The staff was amazing, from the top to the bottom. I cannot say enough for the CNA's, they were so awesome to me. I was treated with courtesy and respect and valued as a person, something of which is oftentimes lost in the nursing homes. Would I recommend this place? Yes, I do, it's beautiful, the staff is great, they treat everyone well and the place is kept clean. I only wished that they cleaned the shower stalls more frequently. Perhaps, with this covid thing, they will. All in all, my stay was a 5 star experience.

Because this care facility's administrator, Jolene K. meets more than all prerequisites, as just by talking to her, I know from communicating with other professionals in the same or related fields, this Care, HALE OLA KINO only gets better, although there are personnel there as social services coordinator, that seems to be evasive, not calling me back from VM requests, and understand that on Monday, he was not there, I feel that in spite of laws mandated, it wasn't until I finally got it right, email successfully sent. If it wasn't for Jolene Kagehara (hope I got her name right) I wouldn't believe most of what he said. I've been a local here for 60 yrs and knows people's ways and answers, as an example, despite being not there on Monday, I left messages at least 3 times going back, (need to check my records) but surely for 5 days since and got a call today. Tuesday. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Unfortunate as it maybe, my mother has used the services of this facillity on three different occasions. As with any SNF/ICF. It is not cheap Mr Spey, but in life you get what you pay for. The staff has always been attentive, caring, and professional in their dealings with us. Their current administrator helped me with my mothers long term care and their social services office has been most helpful in assisting me with my loved ones needs. I cannot say enough for the staff here they are miles above the last SNF/ICF she was in. I wont say where but your review would be better suited to this new facillity than Hale Ola Kino. As you stated your opinion I have stated mine but I have dealt with this facillity on 3 occasions on each they are what all SNF and ICF facillities should strive to be.
