Young Laundry

I dropped off my favorite work dress made by Kate Spade to be dry cleaned. The dress had been gently used prior to me having it cleaned, had no major stains or anything & without any odors. When I picked it up, it looked fine. However, the next day I put it on for work & noticed the material felt odd like it had been overly starched. The dress also had a strong chemical smell I noticed immediately after removing the protective plastic bag. Throughout the work day while sitting at my desk, I kept smelling a foul B.O. stench coming from the dress & finally pin pointed it to the shoulder areas on both sides. My assumption at the time was that maybe some other customers horribly soiled stinky laundry got placed on top my dress for a long period of time & the cleaners made several attempts to rid the odor from my dress by dry cleaning it excessively which I thought was the why the chemical smell was so overpowering & also the reason for the stiff material. I took the dress to another cleaners the following day, explained the issue to the staff whom were able to solve the mystery of it all. They informed me that when the water sits in the tank for a long period of time & is not probably maintained/cleaned on a routine basis it begins to rot producing a foul stench. Then the rotten water reacts with the cleaning solution making it slimy & thick resulting in the material becoming extremely stiff as if it was overly starched. In conclusion, Young’s cleaners are obviously not following basic routine maintenance procedures like they should & are unsanitary. If the cleaners are so poorly neglecting the facility’s cleaning operations & not doing their job, then they are not caring for your clothes properly either.
