Lovely setting, to have a parent pay to get you to perform slave labor, even if you were good at it, almost lost both legs to gangrene from an illegal child run sawmill, almost lost my ring finger, which may have been a blessing when another child about chopped it off with a machete. Met some good kids, some great ones, so many of us hurt, and this place used every God zdamn bit of that with incoming paychecks and outgoing profit from free labor to skate around a few tax laws. I think Darrel may have lucked out quite a bit, because I met his father a few months after mine passed, and he was not a pleasant person, or pastor. My father actually WAS a pastor. And an Actual Marine, not a guy that sat on the edge of the stage and stared at teenage or younger girls. Sorry piece of... Did love working around the moccasins and gators in the swamp though, had to shoot one when the Idiot had us make a camp out there without fencing off the perimeter... Still remember a girl that I was way too young for, and sadly, although nearly my age, she'd lived enough years to be way too old for me. Learned alot being slave labor, but miss the few folks that made an impression on me. Dennis Maddox, first time I heard the Beastie Boys... good soul in a good man, hope it's continued.
