Rooms: My room was nice, quiet, and clean. The hotel is starting to show it's age and needs some maintenance attention. My room had paint blistering and wasn't to the standard a location like this should have been. Food & drinks: Nothing I ate impressed me, after 2 meals I left the grounds to eat at local establishments. For the price of the food on site, I was rather disappointed.

The building is falling apart. Nothing is maintained, elevator buttons are broken. The receptionist was absolutely the most rude person I'd ever met. They don't care about their customers at all. Stone mountain was gorgeous and worth the horrible service.

I have been visiting Stone Mountain since the early 90s and have treasured my experiences there. My husband and I enjoyed a trip in February a few years ago and could not wait to share the experience with our son and new family. We booked the Inn at Stone Mountain where we stayed previously and had a wonderful time IN THE PAST. Upon arrival, the property was ominously dark, without any outdoor lighting, empty parking lot and we joked for a moment about it possibly being closed. I had just spoken with the front desk agent on the way because we came through a lot of rain and were a little later than expected. We found the office door to be locked which was strange at just 8:30pm and didn't feel safe or welcoming. Front Desk agent came to the door, and got us checked in. We only saw two other cars in the very dark parking lot. Upon entering the enclosed exterior hallway, we smelled an extremely strong pot smell. We entered our room to find a really musty smell, curtains not hooked properly, sliding glass door not operating properly, extreme amounts of dust in areas of the room and brown water in the commode and sink that did not go away with repeated running. There is not a vending area. Guests actively smoking pot in the enclosed outdoor hallways, drifts into motel rooms. It was so late, and we had a long drive, we planned to tough it out for the night. I dialed "0" from the room trying to reach the front desk, but it did not sound like the same person I had checked in with. She indicated there were drinks for sale in the front desk area. My husband and child went to the office to purchase drinks, and no one would come to the door. At this point, we found a Walmart a mile away and went to find drinks there. We did not feel at all safe at the Inn at Stone Mountain and decided to try to find other lodging, which we were able to book at the Evergreen. At 10:30pm Friday night, not even settled into the room, we checked out of the Inn at Stone Mountain and moved to the Atlanta Evergreen. Upon arrival, the Evergreen seemed like an entirely different world being completely lit up outside and full of cars and guests as we would expect on a Friday night. We made our way to our room and settled in for the night after 11:00pm. I understand that both facilities are managed by Crescent Hotels. I have been in the resort industry for over 30 years. I have never had an experience like we did at the Inn at Stone Mountain. My family ended up paying three times what we had planned. I understand a lot of challenges that properties face from my own career, but the Inn at Stone Mountain was an unacceptable environment for my family, especially my young son. Even at the Evergreen, pot smell came into our room from the balconies around us all night long. We may be a minority not being into it, but it still is illegal in Georgia and it is not something that should be allowed. Especially by properties that are supposed to be a family environment.
