My club provides dinners for the families staying there. My friends child has been a patient at the hospital, and she has stayed there . A wonder place for families to stay and get the care and support they all need.

We definitely appreciate the help from the rmhc as our son is a nicu warrior currently. Staff is great and kind and the house is clean but some of the house rules are a bit much and we have seen some people break a few house rules repeatedly in just a few days of our stay (please read below about house rules being broken). We do feel a bit Stereotyped as well and there is a little double standard there too. For instance my wife and I are disabled veterans with a disabled parking pass, there are 3 disabled spots right out front along with a few open spaces but we're told we can't park there even with our well-deserved disabled parking pass we earned after serving our country. We were told to park across the street in the parking garage or in the parking lot next to the rmhc with a RMHC pass in window. The sad part is the few staff that's here gets to park out front and use the disabled parking and when I checked a couple vehicles they do not even have a disabled permit hanging from the rear view mirror or on the license plate. There are normal parking spots open as well but only see 1 staff member stay in it overnight. This a double standard or (do as I say not as I do) policy but to me its lazy preferred parking and they dont want to walk. I have moved our car as i was told to move it tonight at dinner as the 1 staff members car remains out front . Keep in mind all the spots out front say RMHC guests parking only but we can't use them but staff can even though we are guests of the house dealing with sick kids or premature babies in the NICU. Anyone with a disabled parking pass should be able to park in any open disabled parking spot no matter what. We are very thankful for the RMHC in a time of need but with everything and everyone in this world there is room for improvement here. (Note keep in mind its only 1 staff member at night and all we have seen at most is 2 maybe 3 staff members during the day so plenty of parking out front to use just not for the guests of the house.) One of the house rules we agree with is you need to spend at least 6 hours a day with your sick child and as a parent you should do that and then some! but what we have seen is some parents are not even close. You have to sign in & out and your location as a house rule but some are saying they are going to the NICU and what they are doing is coming in the main lobby and they head right out the back through the ED department. They come back after 8 pm because the lobby is closed so the only way back in is through ED department unless you risk being seen by someone from the RMHC lobby side of the hospital. We know this as facts because some of the parents are in the same unit as our child, in fact 1 parent is right next door to us so we have seen it happen as well as overheard them talk about it. Hopefully RMHC pays attention to this detail and house rule being broken as there are without a doubt much more deserving family's out there on the waiting list to get in this house.
