First of all, the dental hygienist is very professional and thorough. The staff is competent in my experience so far, but I have a feeling it is the corporate policies that are lacking. On the phone tree, first time patient calls are answered immediately but established patients have to wait 15+ minutes on another line. On the front window, aspen dental advertises walk ins and emergencies are welcome, however, when I called as an established patient to make an emergent appointment, I could not get an appointment for 2 weeks! I told the receptionist I had a cracked filling and severe pain and all she could do was put me on the cancellation list. Once I got in, my tooth was so infected I needed antibiotics and a root canal. The dentist actually admitted that the company favors new clients and advised me next time to just show up in order to get more immediate care. Wow - that says a lot! If you are a new patient you will be treated well but established patients are treated like 2nd class citizens. I would advise the company to have several spaces available on the schedule for new and established patient emergency needs. That is one reason I chose aspen dental thinking they would have provision for on call and emergent issues since they have more than one dentist on staff. I was wrong.
