I contacted Ms. Johnson to help guide me in setting up the financial systems of the private psychotherapy practice Im setting up. She only offers paid consultations, so I booked a half hour at $125. Instead of answering my questions, she asked me a bunch of questions about writing a business plan and setting goals for my business and telling me I needed to do all this leg work that doesnt fit with my situation. Rather than being curious and helpful, she was skeptical and jumped to the conclusion that I wasnt prepared, with very little information to base this on. I followed the consultation with an email re-stating that I was seeking basic accounting advice, not business coaching, and wrote out the simple questions I have about setting myself up so I can start accepting clients. She replied saying I wasnt prepared, I only had an idea, and said it was not in my best interest to get accounting advice until I follow her instructions. This is confounding, because the only loose end I have in starting my practice is setting up these financial systems. Otherwise, I could take clients tomorrow. Since she was refusing to help or provide any of the information I had clearly stated I was seeking from the start, I asked her for a refund and then followed up again. She never wrote back. My experience with Ms. Johnson was very frustrating. She took my money, refused to answer my questions, and wrote perhaps one day youll be able to receive the advisement youre looking for. These were simple, basic questions any accountant would be able to answer. I hate to do anything to harm another persons business, but feel I should share this experience since she isnt working with me to resolve this.
