My wife and I have stayed at the Foley House Inn multiple times over the past few years. We loved its location and the quality of the rooms in which we stayed. However, over the past few years, the quality and value of property and staff have continued to deteriorate. Most recently, we stayed at the property three weeks ago and will not return. Due to a last-minute reservation, we stayed in the carriage house. Some of the issues were serious, while others were easily correctable, but were not addressed. A few of the issues included: 1. Steel plate walkways which were rusted through. 2. A one-and-a-half-inch gap between the bottom of the door and the threshold. (we used a towel to plug the gap so that no critters would be visiting during the night) 3. A mysterious sagging of the floor in the middle of the room. 4. One small light in the bathroom (the shower light and fan did not operate). 5. A poorly cleaned room and a thick ring of dust encircled the room. 6. The nicely appointed dining room in which we had breakfast during our last visit (And is featured on the website) was closed off and filled with furniture. 7. There was no wine bar at night and no breakfast in the morning. 8. Double charged my credit card upon leaving. Had we spent $119 a night for the room, maybe Id shrug and realize you get what you pay for, but these rooms were $250 - $320 a night. It seems that the property was purchased a week prior to our stay by a member of a family heavily steeped in the hotel industry. When checking out I spoke with the two new owners and asked them to respond to the issues listed above. (The world doesnt need another web-based complaint) Knowing they were busy I asked if theyd respond to emails. They encouraged me to detail the issues. After four emails Nothing. We made our first trip to Savannah and stayed at the Historic Foley House Inn. This boutique hotel is in the middle of the historic district. Located across the street from Chippewa Square. Once we parked our car, we were able to walk everywhere. This site is beyond convenient. We travel with an Australian Shepard and this Inn is pet friendly. The staff was attentive, friendly, and helpful. We met the new owner of the Inn and she is truly awesome. She shared with us her plans for the future and we could not be more pleased and excited for her and the Inn. We will be back next year.
