Warning: Long Post I normally write positive reviews but after thinking this one over I HAD to share my experience. Let me just start off by saying there is no sister code here. Some of you may say that I am tearing a sister down, but I do not adhere to condoning unprofessional behavior just because she is a black woman. It would be beneficial for her to do better. If you are thinking of coming to this salon for the first time, make sure you reach out to confirm her business practices, which is something that the customer should NOT have to do. I was looking for a curly salon in the Marietta area since I moved to the area and I saw her good reviews and pictures on IG through a Google search. Her work looks good; her wash n gos looked good also (that's all I wear). I just wanted to get back in the habit of getting my hair done quarterly. I scheduled an appointment through StyleSeat. A $40 deposit is due immediately (it does not specify how long immediate from the time you schedule your appointment is but I digress). She sent a text that was pretty thorough. It did say there could be one reschedule, as the $40 is nonrefundable. Something came up at work and I had to cancel. I canceled a week before my appointment; it was no last minute cancel. I did not receive anything confirming the cancel; I sort of expected not to because the majority of things are done through Style Seat. Rescheduling was difficult as you have to frequent her IG page to know when the next month's appointments were available. I had been looking for a September appointment to book but every time I went on there, there were none available. I went on there today (9/17) to reschedule. There were some appointments available in October. So since I hadn't rescheduled yet, I rescheduled my appointment. This was at 2 in the morning (I was up doing work). I did receive a text stating that my $40 deposit was due, but I guess since I did not pay it immediately, like, right after I scheduled it, my appointment was automatically canceled. I messaged her and told her that I had already paid a deposit back in July but was using my one reschedule to make another appointment. She tells me that I had to pay again because I did not get the reschedule approved. It does not specify on her page what "approved" means. Most times when I schedule appointments, if I want to reschedule, I cancel the previous one. That's what usually happens in a common sense world. When I informed her of this, she screenshot something in her policy that said the reschedule had to be approved, but it did not specifically say HOW. Do you text? Reach out? And furthermore, how do you even know what's available if everything is booked in the future or the dates haven't been released yet? Needless to say, she said I had to pay another $40 deposit. Insane. Who knows how many $40 deposits she has kept as a result of unclear rescheduling policies? She probably does wonderful work but this was a horrible first impression for a potential customer. I will definitely take my business elsewhere. If you are planning to schedule an appointment, I would suggest you reach out to her to get very clear specifics so you don't lose money.

Do not book if you TRULY have long thick hair. I came in with about 40% heat damage to my hair. This stylist offered little to no expertise or options. It was "cut or not". When I decided to not cut and instead get a trim and transition style, the stylist had nothing to offer but "twist it up". When I became frustrated with her lack of engagement, she continued to deflect, stating "your frustration isn't with me, it's with who fried your hair". After probing for other options and MY offering of alternatives, one after the other were knocked off of the list due to her not having the supplies or the experience with hair my length. Not transparent at all about actual level of hair knowledge and ability to work with any type of hair texture and curl pattern. I left with my hair in 4 big sections. Take your money elsewhere.
